Hi Folks

Been playing around with or trying to come up with some options to use these parts I have to build up a PC 2 -  I have ordered a new PC from DS already but since my Dell XPS 720 2007 vintage  BTX Motherboard is shot - so I am left with these parts to make up a 2nd PC -  I want this to be very cheap since it is only for the kids to play on or maybe the wife can use it for work..

My Goal = spend as little as possible

Here is what I bring to the table and not all these need to be used but what I have

2 - WD 10,000 RPM 160GB Raptor HD's that were in a Raid 0 Config
1 - 7200 RPM 500G Segate HD
1 - BlueRay Read/  DVD RW drive
1 - Sound Balster Xfi sound card
2 - nvidia GeForce 8800 Ultra's that were in SLI

not sure if I would bother with these but also
4G DDR2 Ram
1 - QX6800 LGA 775 Processor
1 - 1000 W Dell PS
1- BTX MB case -  stupid thing !

My Thoughts were to buy a bare bones Kit from DS and use the parts above like
going cheap cheap ( inexpensive )

thought about buying an older MB of the LGA 775 type and use the Ram and Processor but I am not 100% on the processor and think time has passed that by

Would like to hear folks oppinions on these parts if any are worth putting into a low priced  2nd PC and go from there ?

I could get my costs down to only appx $1,200  with a HAF 922  I5 type system

but I know you folks are better at this than I  and I do not think I want to spend that much

other questions? let me know if you need more info

Thanks Much
Enjoy it here too Big%20Smile
Ken

id probably shoot for something like this

with 1200 you are close enough to spring for the 470 in my opinion.. i dont know about that power supply. if it were me, id try to sell the parts in your "not sure" list and just put it towards your new one

if that link is out of your range, you could drop to a 500w psu and a gtx460

Hi ender

Thanks for the input...  so you put in there the 470  but I was thinking about using my 8800's in SLI  -  not a good idea or ?  what was your thoughts there ?

eh i mean.. if its a 2nd computer thats up to you, dual 8800s is obviously pretty dated, but they will work with anything else in that list

seems to me all you really need is a mobo, case, and processor if you want to use those video cards too
