I was going through my dream configuration on the Aventum X and noticed that DS no longer offers the Corsair ML fans as options. They now offer only standard fans as well as Cooler Master fans. Looking closer at the Cooler Master fans, I see they have rifle bearings as opposed to the previous magnetic levitation option. This seems like a reduction in quality. Sure the price is lower. But, I'm not buying a DS built computer to save on less standard parts. The keyboard I bought from DS is Cooler Master, and it is junk.

Further looking at the offerings for the GPUs, I see that the price of RTX 3080 is a good 40% higher than competitors. If competitors can offer the same product at cost, why is DS marking up the price of RTX cards to scalper prices?

Finally, why does DS still not offer RAM options based on CL level. There are no offerings for 32 GB RAM with 3200 speed. 64 GB with 3600 speed is offered, but there is no mention if such RAM is CL22, CL20, or CL18. When RAM is shopped online, it is identified by both.

Here's an additional discussion on fans:

https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/6jiax7/corsair_ml120_or_cooler_master_master_fan_rgb/

From that discussion:
"Why these two specifically? They're very different fans, one (the ML120) is a high airflow fan, the other (the MasterFans) are silent fans with rather mediocre airflow (and they're not too quiet as far as quiet fans go either).

If you're concerned about the best cooling possible, get the ML120s, if you're concerned about them being as silent as possible, the Bequiet! Silent Wings 3 would be a better option, but if for whatever reason it HAS to be one of those two, the Cooler Master fans will be much more silent."

For the past year, DS has been slowly migrating away from Corsair branded parts. It began with the Corsair AIOs. Alex cited supply issues, (pre-Covid) and explained the DS branded ones on offer come from the same factory, implying there would be no drop-off in quality. As for the fans, that is quite new on both the ML and the RGBs. Perhaps with all the other supply issues, holding up a build for case fans was a bridge too far. I am none too pleased we don't get the extra warranty option from the brand name coolers and PSUs under 1200W.

From other posters, my understanding is GPUs are often not available other places no matter the price. I couldn't find an MSRP offering in the 4 places I looked. One can only speculate what hoops DS is jumping through to continue to supply them at all.

There are supply disruptions that are creating challenges for us to offer certain items. If you would like us to special order hardware for your particular build, please reach out to our Sales Manager, John via email ([email protected]).
