Budget : Around $2,000
Expectations : I expect to be able to play most games. I'm not really good with computers so I don't know if this is good enough or not. Just want to play games coming out soon like Guild Wars 2 or for future preference Blade and Soul. Stuff like that. Usage : Gaming I just want to know if this will work for the computer. I'm not to sure if it will or not. And do you think the computer will make a lot of noise or be mostly quiet? I wouldn't really want one that makes a lot of noise. sli is when you get 2 gpus to help each other run the game, the games that do support it will make a good difference but its not needed all the time.
to give you a better idea look at this chart:
if you can't figure out how to read it, let me know I will show you real quick but: light blue is a single 580 dark blue is two 580 cards working helping eachother do the work red is three 580 cards working helping eachother do the work at the bottom of the chart you see the resolution, and whatever number you see in that resolution (above it) is teh number frame per seconds (fps), for smooth gaming you want to be around 60 fps. I think the games you play don't utilize sli, I would ask and make sure from their forums. for no sli build: Here you go Ticket# 538514 --- $2140 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: hassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - HAF 922 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 (Intel P67 Chipset) (New B3 Revision) (Does Not Support SLI) System Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 750W Corsair TX (Dual SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (120GB Solid State (By: Intel) (Model: 320 Series SSDSA2CW120G3K5) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: 1x (1TB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (64MB Cache) (Model: Black Edition WD1002FAEX) Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1.2GB (Includes PhysX Technology) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 1: Noctua NH-U12P SE Dual 120mm Fans High Performance Cooler H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Internal Chassis Lighting System (Red) Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 2: Overclock CPU 4.5GHz to 4.8GHz (Requires Pro or Deluxe Series Motherboard) Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty Ask DS specifically for this fan to be added to the side, so you endup with 3 x 200mm fans: haf 200mm non led fan I know this is over your budget but it needs nothing else. we can drop the price two ways: 1. we drop the ssd, and use teh 1TB for hdd1 now and then in a few month you get a intel 320 ssd and use that for hdd1 and push the 1TB to hdd2 for storage. You will need to clone the 1TB to the ssd to move the os/apps/games/everything over in one shot. you can follow my clone guide here 2. we go with the ssd now, and you add the 1TB black caviar in a few months as hdd2 for storage, then move all your media/work/personal files over to the 1TB drive by drag and drop method. let me know what you think. Well the problem is just the money issue. I'd also like to add a 23.6" monitor into the mix because my monitor is quite small. So that would make the price $2,433. But I could see if I could work something out as far as the money goes. Was there something wrong with my comps build?

your case/psu/hdd in your config are not recommended.
your cpu cooler was ok but its louder than the Noctua. why don't we go with a ssd now and you add the 1TB later. $2020 Ticket Number: 538535 that will open up room for you to get this monitor: Dell UltraSharp U2311H 23 but don't get it at that price, wait till it goes on sale, for $230/$250/$270 is what I have seen it on sale for. I have a thread in the hardware section where we will post when this monitor goes on sale, you can check that thread or subscribe to it and buy it when it goes on sale. Oh, are the monitors on here not that great? I was just planning to get the Samsung 23.6" Widescreen from their options. Is that not recommended? Because I might be able to work out the $2,433 price tag with my dad

Most important thing about a monitor is its panel, right now there are 2 major ones, TN and IPS, IPS has superior picture quality/clarity.
all the ones here on DS are TN. teh one I showed you is an IPS. we recommend the IPS of course, its much better to get an IPS panel now and add a hdd later. if you are worried about adding hdd, don't be, it is very easy to install for someone who has never done it, we can walk you thru it, or DS will be more then happy to walk you thru it over the phone, either way is super easy, and 2 to 5 minutes of work. Okay, I think I will go with the build that you first posted and just look into getting a monitor later. And sorry for the dumb question but I also don't know what adding a hdd means ):

NP that is why we are here, ask as many questions as you need.
HDD = hard drive, so what I meant was you go with the build that does not have the 1TB black caviar, making the price $2020, and you take the rest and buy the monitor I mentioned, then in a few months, spend $80 and get add the 1TB black caviar hdd. does that make sense? if not let me know. Yes that makes sense. How big is the hard drive on that ticket? Is the 1 TB hard drive necessary?

I think it might be better to go with the $2,140 build and get the monitor later. That works right? Then I wouldn't have to mess with anything lol

yes you can do it that way also (go with the $2140 build and get monitor later), just please don't waste your money on TN panel, just wait for that monitor to go back on sale, I wonder if they will have a sale for memorial day, everybody else does.
on one ticket we have both 120GB intel ssd and 1TB hdd, on the cheaper ticked we have the 120GB intel ssd and plan was for you to add teh 1TB hdd later. your hdd setup is suppose to be like this: HDD1 = fast small drive: os/apps/games HDD2 = regular large drive: media/personal/work file storage |

Right I forgot to answer your noise qustion sorry.
AS for the fan, it does on the inside of the case on the side panel, the haf 922 has 3 spots for the big 200mm fans, it has one on the side/front/top. now the case comes with a red led one on the front, a non led one on the top, however it does not come with the side fan for some reason, so we ask specifically for that fan. if you gonna call them and order on the phone tell them you want the oem (original manufacturer) 200mm fan to be added to the side, and leave a proper power connector for it so that I can easily connect it when I get it. IF you are ording on line just copy and paste the text below:
as for noise, this pc is quiet, 90% of your noise will come from the gpu's fans when under load, in short when you are gaming, the gpus will get hot, their fan will turn on high and then you will hear lot of noise, other then that, its a quiet pc. Edited by DST4ME - 09 May 2011 at 6:09pm |

How loud it is, really depends on your perception, some don't think much of it, some think its like a plane taking off.
the more nosier the room its in, the less you notice the gpu's fans under load, but they are loud, not super loud IMHO, but they are loud. connecting the the fan power is supper easy, if you can stick the power cord of the pc into the wall, you can connect the fan's power cord, just make it clear to them that you want the power connector for the fan to be sitting right there ready for you to just stick one end in the other, make sure they get hat, most times they don't leave teh power cord for it and you have to just stick it in the mobo, which is easy also, but I rather if you had a power connector read to be connected to. |

Not sure what to tell you, to be honest, but it will be only when you are putting the gpus under heavy load.
