Here's the setup I went with ::

System Configuration:
Case: Digital Storm Twister EXTREME (Black Anodized Aluminum Finish)
Power Supply: 850W SilverStone Decathlon (Dual SLI Compatible) (Model: DA850) (Silent)
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.00GHz (1333MHz Front Side Bus) (4MB Cache)
Motherboard: nVidia 680i Core 2 Quad (By: eVGA) (nForce 680i SLI) (A1 Revision)
Memory: 2GB DDR2 Corsair at 1066MHz Dominator (Dual Channel) (Extreme-Performance)
Hard Drive 1: 150GB Western Digital Raptor (10K RPM) (16MB Cache) (SATA) (Extreme Speed)
Hard Drive 2: 500GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA)
Optical Drive 1: DVD-ROM/CD-ROM (DVD Reader 16x / CD Reader 40x)
Optical Drive 2: DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x)
Network Card: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections)
Video Card: nVidia GeForce 8800ULTRA 768MB (By: eVGA) (PCI-Express)
Video Card 2: nVidia GeForce 8800GT 512MB (By: eVGA) (PCI-Express)
Sound Card: Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer (Up to 7.1 Channel) (Recommended)
Cooling: Liquid Chilled CPU & Video Cards (Artic Blue Liquid)
Case Lighting: Blizzard Internal Lighting (Blue Edition) (Cold Cathode Tubes)
Round Cables: Enhanced Interior Air Flow (Optical Drive & Floppy Cables (Blue Edition)
Overclock Processor: Yes, Overclock the processor as much as possible with complete stability
Overclock Video Card: Yes, Overclock the video card(s) as much as possible with complete stability
Overclock Memory: Yes, Overclock the memory clock speed (Includes Corsair Dominator Airflow Fan)
Tweak Windows: Yes, Disable and tweak all of the non-crucial services on the operating system
Windows OS: Microsoft Windows XP Home (Includes Service Pack 2)
Keyboard: Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
Mouse: Logitech G7 Laser Cordless Mouse (High-Speed Gaming Grade)

The reason for the video card silliness is that my primary display is a Dell 30" (2560x1600) so it'll take both heads from the Ultra to run it right. The GT will power the second screen (20" Wide). Right now I have a 24" main and a 20" side, but will give the Girlfriend the 24" =)

Been in stage 1 since the 12th.. I hope this twitch isn't permanent! =)

The twitch will stop when your new DS Bad Boy arrives.  The wait will be well worth it.

Congrats!

Akkim,

How do you like the Dell 30 inch?  I have the apple 30 inch and its pretty decent- only problem I have noticed is that the screen will grey out when it gets really hot in my apartment- ever notice anything like that?  I supposed my screen is probably defective.

I love the 30".   Dell's first efforts at LCD were half-assed. You can still see it in their early screens, the first versions of their 20"/22" and 24" WFP monitors.

I think when Samsung put out their 244T (24" amazing LCD) Dell realized "whoa, people want that??" they took a solid look at it and really, they have made great strides towards making really good screens.

The end result is a really high quality screen from a manufacturer you wouldn't expect it. Both the Dell 24" and Dell 30" have been absolutely enjoyable... but you should be certain to keep a little airflow around the screens as the casing does tend to get very warm.

I'd toyed with the idea of getting one of the Westinghouse 37" LCDs - but I realized I was gonna be in a big enough hole with the girlfriend by getting the 30" that I shouldn't risk it =)

The real challenge is I'm looking to setup the gaming area in La-z-boy recliners.. and getting stuff situated properly has been a challenge. We're currently looking at various pole mounts with articulating arms to mount the monitors - but then be able to move them out of the way... hopefully when all is said and done I can provide some real nice photos of the final setup =)

The problem with the ceiling mount is that - inevitably I'd have to do some kind of limbo when I get out of the recliner =)

hmmm. You did say recliners. Does the monitor really need to be perpendicular to the plane of the ceiling? I am thinking perhaps something mounted at an angle, say parallel to the angle at which you would be reclined to. Maybe I can find a photo of something similar to what's in my head. I'll try and stick to the idea about the monitor mount so as not to scare anyone with the things in my head too much LOL.

That's fairly accurate, except my recliner is way more comfy =)

What I've found is that there's an articulated monitor arm that attaches to a pole that has a base that slides underneath the recliner for stability.

This allows me to prop the monitor up while my lardass games.. and then tuck it away against the wall when I'm done! =)

...I did get a call from DSO, they were out of 1066mhz Dominators so they set me up with 1250mhz ones... /sniffle! =)
