use a can of compressed air.

monthly or quarterly depending on how many fans you use for intake.
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star.

I've been taking mine out in the back yard and hosing it it down.  I find it cleans out the very fine crevices very well.  Although, I think I'm going to need to call DS soon.  My rig is always having boot issues now.  I can't understand why.

When it needs it ;)  Canned air of course. If your fans don't have them, buy/make filters for them...makes cleaning easier. Just pull those out and wash them, let em dry and put em back in (or...just get new ones)
