Hey folks,
Plan is to buy in the next 3-4 weeks but should I wait? Isnt the Haswell series coming out shortly? Also, forgive me if I am asking a question that has already been asked. Is the Aventum 2 out, and if not when will it be released? |

From what I've seen, Haswell will be out in June, and have a 10-15% overall performance boost over Ivy Bridge. The integrated graphic is supposedly double the performance. For desktops with a gaming graphics card it's not a big difference but for laptops could be huge for some, esp. with its lower powwer usage for better battery life.
Don't know about the Aventum 2, but those ordering now can ask over the phone for the rigid copper tubing for water cooling.

Thanks for the quick response.
I don't mind waiting if the aventum 2 is close. Yeah, the copper tubing is pretty cool, I am hoping to have that in the rig I go for. |

The Aventum 2 is out and the copper tubing looks great. I was like you waiting for this, and that. The way I figure it, I could wait forever. As every month something quicker and nicer will come out. Yes, new CPU and mobo are do out within a few weeks, but that as you know would be the slowest till the newer improved performance chip comes out. And the Titan 2 Video cards, etc, etc.
So I ordered my Aventum 2 last month. Good Luck with whatever you decide, at least you picked the best gaming computer...

Waiting for a new product to be released is tough waiting but no where as bad as waiting for a new system to arrive. But waiting for a new system to arrive has a nice ending and a reward in the end. I rather be waiting for the new system to be arriving at my door than a new product coming out some day.

i think the biggest thing coming from Haswell is that it is sporting a 50percent increase on battery life.. and that has only to do with Labtops. Of course i think in all its about a 10-15percent boost in performance overall... i wouldnt put much stock into haswell untill its 2nd gen cpu's release.

All good points.
I agree, that there is always the next piece of tech. Anyone have any of the temps that are achieved under water on the aventum? I can do Cryo cooling but I think my eyes are taking over from my brain. |

theres no point in having lower temps yes watercooling will help you achieve better oc but a cpu that is running below zero "cryo" and one that is on water cooling will achieve the same oc. the only time subzero comes into play would be if you were using LN2 and crank the voltages up extreme levels killing the processor in the process

Ran into a similar dilemma. Someone suggested that I should wait since Haswell release will be very soon! However, it is very hard

i always use a simple rule when i buy.
NEVER get the first edition!... always wait for the 2nd. And 99.9percent of the time i am happier for it. |

I have trouble waiting and always want the best and latest but it can be tough making the right choice and each person has to make their own decision. I have been holding off on upgrading my video card but getting more tempted to do it everyday.

So I was talking to some pleasant folks in service and they said DS cant do Cryo Tec and copper pipes?
Is this true? If I am spending big on a rig, surely there must be a way to achieve it? Edited by bally7 - 31 May 2013 at 4:36pm |

Nope. Alex did say Cryo and rigid tubing isn't available. Something about the rigid fittings not compatable to the Cryo cooling block or something close.

Ah well, not the end of the world. Thanks for the info gents.
Alex, do you think it will become available? Another question, does the cryo cooling achieve very low temps on the graphic cards and other areas beside the CPU? I am having a sparky come and hook up a separate socket to a new breaker this week, because I am completely inept. Edited by bally7 - 01 Jun 2013 at 6:00am |

From what the team said, there is no plan to have Cryo-TEC for copper piping.
The Cryo-TEC is only for the processor. Moving forward, the team is actually planning to phase out our Cryo-TEC cooling system because it does not help with overclocking on the newer CPUs that are being launched and the upcoming X79 update in a few months. The bottleneck now for overclocks are the actual processors, not cooling anymore. We'll be replacing the Cryo-TEC option with a copper pipe version. |

Thanks Alex,
Phase out! Wow, I thought it was the flagship option, but sounds like a strategic move. Well then I am now torn. Can you give me info on what kind of temps the aventum gets water cooled? Really want those pipes! :) I know I probably dont need the Cryo. I know that. But I made a mistake last time of not future proofing my system. Will the water cooling achieve the insane set up I am going for? Had a bad experience with a NON-DS rig that was water cooled one time. My ticket is Config 833380. Your advice/feedback would be appreciated. I hope to buy soon as TODAY I see you guys are tempting me with a summer sale. Regards J |

Temps are really low as we use multiple 420mm radiators. Pretty much the best you can get. We also use a pump head upgrade on one of the best pumps on the market. Temps will depend on your overclock, for example a 12 thread Intel CPU on the X79 platform running at all cores 4.4GHz is around 75'C-80'C on load under extreme stress-testing conditions.

Looks really cool and rad. I just ordered a EVGA Titan I can't imagine what 3 of them would do in SLI. I guess they could do anything and everything. I wish I had the system that you just showed the build of.
