There's the link to my build.  From what i can tell, everything there works together and i have enough in the cooling dept. etc.
What remains now is the fact that i haven't owned a windows computer in over 5 years (go mac!)

At any rate, I basically set this up so i have a good bit of power for now, and the space to upgrade at a later time.  I don't know a ton about what i'm doing here, and some of this was recomended by Dave from DSO.

Basically i'm looking for anything that doesn't match, or that i could do to improve my performance while cutting on price.  I will be using this mostly for games and then a little bit of stuff for college (CAD etc).

Also, am i better of getting speakers from here? or should i order them direct from creative/someone else for a better deal?  And, does anyone have any experience with my mouse/keyboard choices?

Thanks

i would go with a 8800GT or 8800GTS, i would spend the extra money myself but its certainly not needed.

I havent seen the multimedia keyboards DS offers, but im sure they do the job in a basic manner.  If you are a more hardcore gamer I would recommend a better mouse/keyboard, but thats really all up to preference.

One thing about the Ultra case, its freaking huge.  I added two additional fans in mine because I live in hawaii with no ac (government cant afford to give me ac apparently) and my components still run hot due to the space between the fans and the components.  Its still well within acceptable limits though.  I also really like the Ultra case because of its badass effect it has going.

Other than that looks good to myself

Hey Chris,

Since we already went over the configuration I don't really have any comments. However, the speaker pricing depends on what kind of setup you want. We have a good deal on the 2.1 and the 5.1 systems. However I know you can get higher quality stuff without having to spend a whole lot more.

Here's an example:

I must have been reading wrong, solo, i thought i had te 8800 up there.  But why is the 512mb one more expensive than the 640?  Is it better performance?

Thank you for the link dash, i'll check it out and see what i can find.

The only thing that i can see myself needing now is a monitor.  But i'll go search those out.  One question.  is the 6ms reaction time (refresh i think) good enough? or do i want faster for games.  Or.... will i not be able to tell!Confused

thanks again guys

Chris

Depends on how large a difference there is in the response time. I swear I can tell the difference between a 6ms and a 2ms. Though it could just be psychosomatic. The 512 is more expensive because it's newer and features the latest upgrades. A faster core clock, better threading, and over all better performance. I believe the GTS 512 is currently the third from the top card on the market.
