It'd be perfect for the new TEC coolers,
as there is room on the bottom for two PSU's & great potential for larger radiators. Edited by Landaulet - 29 Dec 2010 at 9:10pm |

RV03's also coming out, I'm looking forward to that one. Looks like it might even be smaller than the FT02, and it can still pack in a EATX mobo.IMO, the FT02 or RV02 didn't really tackle the problems the RV01 first had, and the RV03 is the RV01 perfected.
glad to see SS is embracing the 90 degree mobo layout with its new cases too. Edited by ablahblah - 29 Dec 2010 at 9:54pm |

It looks like that case is actually good for air cooling your gpus. I love how much room it has for rads, its insane! A freaking ginormous quad rad in a decent size case.

Would you even see any benefits using a quad+triple rad just to cool your cpu/nb/sb?

with slow enough fans, and 1C water to air Delta, a quad radiator can only cool 100 watts. or with high enough speed fans and a 20C water to air Delta a quad can cool near 1000 watts.. matters what you are trying to do

The lower the Delta the better, in this case. water temperature scales linearly with CPU temp, so you want to keep the water as close to ambient temp as possible, for the best possible performance with standard water cooling.
There is many ways to do this, some radiators are designed to perform best with high speed fans, some medium, some slow.
One approach would be to use a radiator designed for high speed fans, and use a high speed fan, this approach can dissipate a lot of heat in a small area, but will be very loud.
going to the other extreme end of the spectrum, you could use many slow speed radiators with slow speed fans, and achieve the same heat dissipation, but with silence. then there is the middle. lol
Here is a very good slow speed radiator, you can see how many watts it will dissipate, depending on the Fan speed, and the air to water Delta.

Honestly, it is refreshing to see a person actually answer a question presented on an internet forum, with detail and some time taken to do so............vs the standard insults and anger.
I have to tip my hat to that sort of behavior, plus now I understand the radiator set up water coolers use, just that much more. thanks! |

delta is something like "the change in" and is written as sort of a triangle shape, well thats the physics definition at least. in justin's case its the change in T from water to air.

ok so the delta is the diff between the water and air... so if water is 40 lets say with a delta of 2, the air temp would then be 42. got it.
now that chart just created a few more questions then answers... can you explain the chart please and what the numbers mean as well :) how do you know if a rad likes slow or fast fans? thanks for the info man Edited by Raif - 22 Jan 2011 at 6:46am |

an air/water Delta of 2 would be more like air of 20c and water 22C
the chart shows the Delta, and the numbers are the amount of watts it will dissipate.
radiators with wide, or far apart fin spacing are generally designed for slow fans, radiators with very tightly packed fins are designed for fast fans. Some are just bad like the black ice stealth series, they are poor no matter what fan you put on them, and also very restrictive on the water flow, so that compounds the issues, poor air to water exchange performance, and highly restrictive on the water flow, which will also lessen performance.

i still don't understand the chart sorry for being thick...
ok i understand the whole first column after that the only thing i can understand is the top line of the delta as in lets say 15 or 2 deg delta i don't understand the other column or anything underneath it in the delta column. sorry if i am annoying you i just want to fully understand this... i am going for my comp tia A+ starting in march doing both classes |

the far left column shows the fan speed, the number under each delta is watts dissipated for the respective fan speeds, relative to to the delta

so then wouldn't that rad be better for high rpm fans?
what's the column in between the speed and delta? Edited by Raif - 22 Jan 2011 at 10:03pm |

no, that radiator is designed to excel with low speed fans.. all radiators will dissipate more heat as you blow more air through them, to a point, but if I posted up a chart for a high speed radiator you would see, that the amount of heat dissipated at low speed would be less, and the amount of heat dissipated at high speed would be a lot higher than the radiator I posted.
From Skinee's lab " C/W is a calculation of Water Out temperature minus the Air Temperature being pulled or pushed through the radiator divided by the heat load (wattage). This calculation gives you the delta in degrees of the radiator leaving water for each watt of heat applied to the radiator. "

The Raven 3 might be able to mount a pair of dual rads and another single rad (2x240 + 1x120 radiators) all internally, and mount maybe more multi rads outside. SS rep that I contacted isn't sure on this completely, but if it is true, the TJ11 might have some unexpected competition in the internal LC department! The RV03's also mid-tower, while the TJ11 is still full.
