PC Arrived last night, great comp but I do have a few concerns.

Lots of trash left over in the registry like a digital storm splash screen. Why the f would anyone want that? And tons of PCmark/3dmark crap, along with empty folders of the two.

There was a mystery screw floating around the box (it looks like a drive bay screw, but I couldn't find any missing slots Shocked) and a scratch on the case.

There is a cable tie anchoring the 8800GT to the case, and looks like it is putting a lot of unneeded pressure on the card (presumable there so it doesn't fall out while shipping. Am I safe to remove this?

And then there is the rather unfortunate problem...

Popped in CoD4, played it for three hours and got a BSOD. This is annoying as I've been using windows for over 10 years and have yet to experience one. All updates and hotfixes are installed.

Naw, not steam CoD4, retail.

Everything was running nice and cool when the crash happened, which was odd.

Installed DX SDK, defragged, and tweaked the OS and I can't seem to get it to crash again.

When the crash occured, it was off the clean install, so that was the only program I had loaded.

I'll report back tonight after installing Bioshock, HL2 and oblivion and giving them a thorough run-through to see if it bsods again.

All of the sudden everytime I go into a COD4 server the graphics are all flashing white/black and you can't see anything but that.

Already uninstalled/reinstalled, and it's the only game with an issue.

Splash Screen: That's just some simple branding we have on our images. It's rather easy to remove by using MSCONFIG, which we can show you how if you haven't removed it already. The folders are left by PC Mark and 3D Mark by default when ever you run the uninstaller.

Mystery Screw: Ah the o'l screw, check your optical drives. The vibrations from shipping have knocked them loose. I think we might have to lock-tite our screws LOL.

Cable Tie: That's to keep the card in it's socket. You can remove it, but, the pressure isn't going to be enough to bend the card or anything like that.

Blue Screen: Glad it looks like it went away. If it still comes back, re-seat your memory and video cards.

 Enjoy the new system!

It was like that for me as well if I tried to play without AA enabled.

Go to your nvidia control panel and set 'Let the 3d application decide' and the problem should go away.

I made sure all cables were secure, and reseated the ram before the first boot. Removed the tie today and reseated the vcard and everything still seems fine.

Very satisfied with the comp, going from a p4, 512 ram, x800 xl card to this setup is pretty crazy.

As for the screw, I can't seem to find ANY missing slots, so I'm at a loss to where it would go.

Check your HD cage to see if any of the HDD is  missing a screw.
