comp. shuting down

Hi all, since I have updated my comp to the sp2 for 64 bit vista system i notice that direct x 11 is now installed and i have 2 geforce 260 video cards and at nvida site it shows my card support directx 10 could this cause my system to shut down and give me the blue screen and say inconpatible hardware?, only does it when Iam playing high end games.

There are two components to DX. There are the files/drivers for it installed on the PC and then there are what features of it your video card is able to take advantage of.

You always want the most up to date version of DX installed on the computer even if your video card can't take advantage of all of the features. If you try to play a newer DX11 game that has DX11 graphical options available, but your video card only supports up to DX10.1, then it just won't be able to use any of the DX11 optional features and it will only run what it is able to.
