Ok so Im starting to think that when I made my first order, I made it too fast and didn't really look into what I was buying. I chose the higher end options bcz I was (and still am) a newb at putting together a computer.
Here is my question. would my first order be a better computer for me then my second order. Should I change stuff around or wait for the computer I have coming?
Notes: My resolution is 1900 x 1080. I play mainly World of Warcraft and iRacing but will play more GPU intense games.
these are my thoughts. First Order: Awesome components while the looks are not so flashy and much slower HDD. This order is also on standby awaiting the shipment of 295's coming in like late may early June
Second order: (Just thinking about the parts, this has not been ordered but could change current order around if decided). Order Number: 279942
Notes: the two ssd's raided together wootage (Dunno how to raid myself so thought I would have them do it) making up for the HDD Speeds.I thought this computer would Look sweet with the paint job and the blue lighting with the green led fans. I was also wondering if the performance jump would be a huge jump down from my first order. I was also thinking of having DS special order the 1792 MHz 275's instead of the normal ones. A few options are open as well such as three 275's but ill just take whatever advise I can bcz I just thought my second order would be really awesome and wanted to know the performance jump I would Suffer.
I could change my current order around to somthing like this if needed, but my budget is anywhere at or below the total of my first order. Should I change stuff around or wait on the order I have coming?
P.S. I needed a nice surge protector and the extra money would allow me one lol. (1500 va is enough to run this computer and a 23" monitor with 300 watt speakers isnt it?) Edited by Bigan - 09 May 2009 at 2:02pm |

If I were you I would drop the 2000mhz ram and get like 1600mhz instead. Then with the extra money I would upgrade to Stage 2 overclock or upgrading HDD. Such an expensive computer deserves a better OC or faster HDDs, imo.

for 1900 x 1200 all you need is 2 x 275 or 1 x 295.
game wise you are not going to notice much of a difference between the 2 systems. why are you choosing the classifed with the 920? |

well the classified is more for enthusiast or people that have a need for Tri sli and a couple of more PCI slots. and a $200 price tag.
I think if you drop the interior and exterior paint and the bluray, then you got a great system in the second build |

Alright. I made my descision on my build and I believe I am happy with it. I dropped the raptor for SSD's and dropped the 2000 mhz ram for the 1600 mhz ram. so Here it is. DTS4ME whats your opinion? I left the GPU's alone and decided to wait for the 295's.

I agree with Harley on the sound card. On board is probably just as good for what most people do. The only reason to get a sound card in my opinion is if you do a lot of audio recording (music or radio) and you dont want to spend a lot of money on a decent external audio interface (such as an M-Audio or something similar).

Quick question about the SSD's though. Im a Complete Newb when it comes to SSD's and was wondering if theres a catch to them. They sound really nice and extremely fast but I was wondering if I had to "Flash" (Which I Have Never Done) them as I have been reading often and erase the memory I dont want on there because they don't actually delete files you want deleted (So I have Heard).
I have never installed a operating system on a computer before and would hate to have to deal with basically deleting everything off the drives and reinstalling them every two weeks..
Basically I was just wanting Drives that were Fast and easy to maintain.

Ill prolly end up doing that. But why should I do this if I have never installed an OS. Just curious. would I ever have to Erase everything off them? As part of general matinence that is. Whats bad about having them in Raid 0? Sorry but im trying to learn lol.

What is wrong with SSD? there are thousands of people with SSD and no problem, why do you just go around saying stuff that has no basis for it? spend $200 on a veloci when for a little bit they can a much faster drive for what?
Bigan there is nothing wrong with SSDs and they specifically state that they support raid, don't believe the hype, the first gen SSDs had some problems but the mentioned vertex does not suffer from any of those
give me a ticket number so I can look that ticket over. Edited by DST4ME - 12 May 2009 at 5:48pm |

there are a bunch of people on this forum with either one SSD as HDD1 or with multiple SSDs in raid for HDD1 and not one person has reported a problem.
right now in your config with the raid you are looking at something like 460MB/s read and 370MB/s write and basically zero seek time, that is great speed. I would tell you to go with 1333MHz ram but for classified 1600 is better. why are you going with 2 x 295 if your resolution is 1900 x 1200? why not go with one and then if you see you need another, which I doubt, then you can simply add that in, it will save you money if you get the second one from newegg
build looks great but you might want to go with 1200w psu I think

I figured I would get the 2nd 295 to have it bcz eventually my display will be a 30'er and I origionally had a 1200 watt power supply but DS told me all I needed was the 1000 Watt one and it would save me money but They also said it would not pass their tests if it needs a bigger one so we shall see :P. thanks for the review yet again lol

I think with the 2 x 295, raid, classified, OC, extra fans, etc, you will be a little short, but DS is right if its not enough then it won't be stable so let see
, good luck and your are very welcome, it was my pleasure
don't forget to post your specs and pics when you get it
