Completely stupid questions about Steam

Hello.  For anyone with the patience, I have some completely dumb questions about Steam.  I've been trying to read about it and have some impressions that need to be confirmed or dismissed:

1.   I get that I can buy games and download them with automatic patching, yes?

2.   But the games come with DRM that requires me either to be online while I play, or do some hat-trick where I store an online DRM ID on my computer so that it can check with itself.

3.   If I wanted to transfer a Steam-bought game to another computer, Steam had better still be in business so that I can get a new DRM ID? (That last one's a deal breaker for me, a veteran of the Real Player Fiasco).

Not so dumb a question. Good questions.

1. Yes

2.   If you're not online it will ask if you want to play offline after its attempt to connect fails.

3. Not sure, but probably right.

3. Yes. I transferred to 3 computers.
