Hey I have a question. Would this be a good set up?
http://digitalstormonline.com/comploadsaved.asp?id=283445 I can only spend 1,500 at max on a new computer. I do Graphics Designs with Photoshop and use Sony Vegas and those sorts of programs. I do want to be able to play most games also. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009127 Is this also a good monitor for it..? And the red fan on the HAF, is it possible to make it green? |

I tried to help with it, but with a monitor only of that size, I think the decision of giving a 285 as a graphic card I might be over doing it. Since 285 can still give good framerates even at 1920 res no?
9800 GTX+ or something might be better right? |

this would be better, remember for a few hundred more I can show you an i7 system that you can spend little over the years upgrading and keeping it up to date and powerful.
ok here is what your config should look like: here you go Ticket# 283481 --- Price: $1486 (To see this build click here) Price after current promotion $1436 Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: Cooler Master HAF 932 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Interior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00GHz (1333MHz Front Side Bus) (6MB Cache) Motherboard: CLEARANCE HOT SELLER: NVIDIA 650i Core 2 Quad (Chipset: nForce 650i Ultra) System Memory: 4GB DDR2 1066MHz Corsair Dominator DHX (Extreme-Performance) Power Supply: 750W PC Power & Cooling (Dual SLI Compatible) (Silencer Edition) Card Reader: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (500GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 896MB (Includes PhysX Technology) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: Standard Factory Heat-sink and Fan Liquid Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a H20: Stage 3 Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Internal Chassis Lighting System (Green) Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Boost Processor: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my processor Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Tweak Windows: Yes, Disable and tweak all of the non-crucial services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) (For Enthusiasts) Restore Kit: Digital Storm Specialized Recovery System (DVD Image Based) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks LCD Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-10 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: 3 Year Platinum Care Extended Parts & Labor Warranty no wait the 680i mobo is not a pci-e 2.0 its 1.0, so the 2xx gtx series won't be taken advantage of fully, you need to go with a lower card like the 9800. cause if we change the mobo to a 780i the price becomes almost $1700, for that price you put a 100 or little bit more and get an i7. Oh awesome. Thanks DST4ME.
Though uhm since Gear here does graphic type applications, would a Quad be better? (But that would make it go past 1500..) Edited by Axel Daemon - 16 May 2009 at 8:36pm |

http://www.digitalstormonline.com/comploadsaved.asp?id=283491 After promotion $1439
How's this? Just changed to Quad, dropped the GTX 270 to a 9800 GTX+ Is the 750W necessary? Something tells me a 650W would suffice. Since I know he ain't planning on upgrading this lol. (He lives like.. 30 mins away from me lol) In fact we can probably ditch the HAF since it's not exactly an extreme setup that would require the HAF. (Which it's probably necessary to ditch the HAF if we were trying to aim for the 275 GTX while keeping it under $1500) What was the i7 setup you had in mind? |

well he's not planning on upgrading right now, but two years down the line when he can get a gtx 295 for 100 dollars and they come out with new photoshop/3dsm/whathaveyou that take advantage of SLI / high end processors he might reconsider. Just sayin', you never know until you get there.

the 750w is not really needed in that config AD but then again the difference is $12. I would keep the haf for future upgrades but honestly the two systems below make more since, specially the second one in this post.
the i7 I had in mind since you live close to him (so you can help with all the upgrades) is this: here you go Ticket# 283543 --- Price: $1783 (To see this build click here) Price after current promotion $1708 Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: Cooler Master HAF 932 Exterior Finish: -
