Sorry to 99 percent of the folks around here, but I'm not a gamer.  I'm building a computer strictly for video editing using Avid Media Composer.  Avid has always been slow in approving "accepted" computers for their systems and the i7 configuration hasn't been approved yet, but lots of editors are using it with great success.  The one thing that is really required is a video card for graphics and I'll be installing a Nvidia Quadro fx3800 - not sold by DS - as rendering times rather than gaming speed in Avid, AfterEffects and Photoshop are what I need.

I'm leaning toward something like this:

I need a bigger HDD boot drive.  Most editors like at least 500GB for the numerous editing and graphic programs with lots of head room left.  I'll flip on the motherboard if anyone can convince me the EVGA is better than the ASUS.  Reviews of both indicate a lot of DOA boards out there from both makers, but since DS tests the system and backs it up for 3 years I guess I don't have to worry.  I do want a board that I can update to 24GB in the future.  I guess the 750 is enough to run the video card and all the hard drives?

750 is more then enough, use HDD2 and 3 for file storage and you should not need such a big drive, how much room do the programs themselves take?

if you want go with a 300GB veloci or bigger ssd.

with evga only classified supports 24GB
