I am currently saving up to get a new ODE lvl 2 to game on, but I need help with something for my younger brother.  He currently has no computer and uses the one my mom has, which is so old its probable the first computer to use floppy disk.  He wants to play the new Star Wars MMO coming out but he only has a budget of $500.00, while I know he can get anything off here he did find something at Best Buy and I was wondering if you all could give some feedback on the computer.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

    1. don't get ode 2, either get 1 or 3, in gaming ode 2 is gonna pretty much like ode 1, when you are ready to get your pc, post a thread in the config section and let us help you get your money's worth.

    2. that system will put out about 20 fps at best IMHO, depending on his res, what res is he playing at?

The one he picked up cheap is 1280x960 I think, I would have to double check with him to be sure.

depending on the game, he could get 20fps, he could get 50 fps, for example in H.A.W.X. 2 he would be around 50f fps, in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat around 30 fps, in Resident Evil 5 around 40 fps.

if res goes higher all those numbers drop a good amount.

what is your own res gonna be?

I currently play Rift, Anno 2070 and Total War: Shogun 2.  I will only add GW2 and any new Total War games to it.

As for the other 2 monitors, there is no real reason. Are they better?

They are the newer models, either the u2312 or u2412 will do great and have a lower price, the u2312 is the most popular around here for its price vs size.

    Dell UltraSharp u2312

    Dell UltraSharp U2412M

I think rift would need sli 570 for max setting at those res, but I'm not 100% sure.

gotcha, well we can also always config you a system with one 570, then maybe later you can add a second, making it sli 570, also keep in mind new gpus come out in the next 3 months.

Cool, I am figuring another month or two before I have the money to buy so adding another month won't really be a big deal.  Thanks DST for the help.

Can you look at this one for me too?  My Brother got my mom to give him $200.00 instead of Christmas presents and he saw this one at Wal-Mart.  Now from what I could find online this company doesn’t have the best reputation, but he is strapped for cash.  This one is 699.00.
