SO.. after a few months of solid running, my pc has been taking hard restarts and doing the same thing where it hard restarts, tries to reboot, but it just comes on, and turns off, on and off on and off. I checked my event viewer, and im getting a Kernel-Power 41 error.
Seems to me, if its not my PSU, its probably cause i have a bad mother board. Any thoughts? |

Sorry to hear, again.
All long shots, but unplug everything from rig, mouse, keybrd, monitor, etc and see if it at least finishes booting. If it boots, then try one at a time. Plug back in and see if you can boot into Safe Mode..F8 on boot. If you can than it's a driver conflict or program conflict. Check in Device manger for conflicts..red check. Try doing a system restore if you just added a program. Look for multple driver listings, like two audio that conflict, etc If it doesn't boot to Safe Mode then......could be any hardware. Unplug gpu power plugs and try and see if it boots. No video but something might change. Even unplug fans, lighting, anything that might be shorted. Again..all long shots but ya gotta try someting. It's basically trying to isolate the problem by process of elimination. Good Luck. Edited by bprat22 - 25 Feb 2012 at 6:55am |

Sorry to hear about that bud, have you tried to load BIOS defaults to see if the issue goes away? I'm thinking it may be the overclocking.
One way to clear the BIOS and remove the overclocking is to unplug the system from the wall, and remove the circular lithium battery on the motherboard, wait 30 seconds, and put everything back and turn on the system. Then go into the BIOS, load defaults and save and exit.

It's been default ever since i had issues the first time. Today i just had it hard restart and the ASUS information said "encountered a surge, and asus-anti surge prevented something blah blah".
Seems to me either a issue with my motherboard being unstable to control the circuit or my PSU is taking a crap Edited by ironmb - 25 Feb 2012 at 6:28pm |
