So this has happened more than a few times now with my DS computer to the point where I know I'm not accidentally restarting it. I turn off the computer, go to bed, and in the morning I wake up and it's on! I don't seem to have any other problems with the computer, it runs great. Just doesn't like to stay off.
Does anyone have any troubleshooting I can do or know what might be causing this? well i was going to refuse to help you for running itunes and norton on a DS machine, but then i see that you are a fellow tablet user, and you know about hijackthis so thats somewhat redeeming
(kidding, of course
you need to hit your bios and check the wakeup options, its likely enabled there to let USB or LAN "wake up" the system, which would cause this
also, i assume you already knew this, but be very careful with hijackthis, its a very handy tool if you know how to use it, but it can do a lot of damage if you dont.

Hmm, ok I'll check the BIOS. I ran HijackThis just to get the log. Didn't actually use the program.
I hate iTunes, but it's a necessary evil. |

Only time I have had this happen, was from a faulty on/off switch.. Be just sitting in the office and pretty soon, it would fire up on its own. lol.. Could also be from a short in the wire from the switch to the MOBO, the connection on the MOBO, or even the MOBO itself.

Hmm...So I just entered the BIOS and "Wake-Up by PCI card" was enabled. I disabled it. However I have no idea why it would be turning on.
Also, if I remember correctly, this only seems to be happening at night. gremlins? Edited by hgsouth - 14 Oct 2010 at 12:53pm |

it could be gremlins....
the night part is probably only becuase its just off longer at night and has a chance to.. did you check to see if anything else could wake it up?
what all do you have in PCI slots?

It sounds like you have kobolds. They only appear when humans are not around. They are not mischevious per-sey; unless provoked.
All kidding aside, hopefully the "wake-up by PCI" being disabled fixed the problem.
