Looking for a new trading machine. I hear DS is a good gaming machine
and solid product. I recently upgraded to a 4 monitor setup (24" Asus - VS247)
and the old custom i3 box and VC needs updated. Looking at Vanquish
line. Any assistance with choosing a solid Vanquish level to use as a
solid trading machine would be much appreciated! Thanks!

If you just have browser or text windows up on all the monitors, you really don't need that much power. So you have a budget in mind? Will you be doing anything else with the machine?

Budget around $1000-$1500. It will strictly be a trading machine running windows 7.

Just want to make sure I have a video card to support the 4 monitors. I will be running the top tier Fios connection so i5 is really all i need.

Not to talk you out of a new PC, but....have you thought about merely upgrading GPU?

A Level 3 Vanquish should fit your needs. It has an i5 CPU and the 760 will support your 4 monitors. And it's well within your budget at $1059.

The 650 has 3 video ports. The fourth monitor would have to be run from the CPU's GPU. I am not quite sure how that would be configured to span 4 monitors on two different drivers. |

Depending on the version of the VS247 he has, he may need at least a DisplayPort to DVI (or HDMI) adapter. If he has the version with only DVI he will need an HDMI to DVI adapter as well. Edited by danjw1 - 20 Sep 2013 at 9:17am |

The 650ti Boost has 4 outputs - 2 DVI, 1 HDMI, 1 Display Port. This is pretty much the same layout as all the current GTX cards... I think I found 1 model out of 10 that only had 3 outputs, so I guess it really depends on what DS uses. He's looking for an i5 CPU anyway to run his software better, so the L3 comes with a 760 which definitely supports 4 monitors...

Gonna need adapters no matter what GPU he goes with. None have 4 of the same outputs on them - short of a few Radeon cards that have multiple Display Ports on them.

Boom! Much appreciated by your responses! I want a new rig because my current old rig is a desktop with vista, office suite and tons of other nonsense. I just like the idea of a fresh machine with a new OS and nothing else. Thanks, again. Old rig is getting handed down to nephew

exactly what I was thinking when I suggested the level 2. Truly, for your needs the i3 should be plenty of processor and the rest of the system should be able to handle what you are to throw at it. Good luck with your decision and keep us updated! |
