Absolute yes. IMO, you have made all the best basic selections for what you're asking. The 2080 SUPER is only about 15% stronger than the 2070, and not normally worth the extra $, but you have an extra $100 discount to help pay for it. It will ensure you can play at higher settings if that's important.
You have gone a bit beyond with your choice of motherboard, but if it's in the budget.... You could be fine with the Pro Carbon or the ROG Strix. Neither one would your discount. I would caution you not to overclock the GPU. First, you have a stronger card than you absolutely need, the OC is mild and doesn't get you much extra performance (2-3 fps), and the card will run hotter, which should mean that the pretty loud fans would spin up more often. That's a deal-breaker for me! |

I own a 2019 Lumos my son uses that has the excellent easy Overclocking I7-9700K and the RTX 2080. I like your choices in this build, The 2080 Super is a very solid choice in my book, and +15% performance over the 2070 Super is not a small amount of performance...it’s a very significant boost from more active GPU cores. That card won’t leave you wanting more. I also like the Asus Z390 Maximus Hero mobo...good power handling VRM for Overclocking, heatsinks for M.2 drives, and a built in Q-Code reader that can be a big time saver by displaying error codes to help diagnose any board problems. I would encourage you to go with full Stage 2 Overclock on the I7-9700K for just $99. Get the full performance out of that excellent processor, as you have enough cooling. Hate to leave any performance untapped...lol. I would prefer the Corsair LL fans or ML fans over the Corsair HD fans. LL and ML have a little higher Static pressure, which is better at pushing air through your cpu coolers radiator. The LL and ML kits also include one Corsair Lighting Node Pro module to synchronize all of your Corsair RGB components (Vengeance RAM, Corsair AIO cooler) and also Corsair RGB keyboard or mouse using the Corsair iCUE software. The LL fans have a unique dual LED RGB set of light rings for 16 total LED and endless lighting designs compared to the others. The ML fans have only 4 RGB LED, but are Magnetic Levitation bearings for the most quiet and longest 5 yr warranty. |
