Hi all.  I would like feedback on my possible next purchase.   I'm new to gaming, and am out of the loop, but I found this site and am impressed by what I have read.   Money is an issue(of course) and I would like my machine to be an all around setup for other applications.

You have a great Config, but if you use this system for Gaming, you should go with 2x  SLI Dual nVidia Geforce 8800GTS 320MB or any 8800 Series and 850W Power Supply.  This should be great for Gaming and other aplication.  The 850W Power Supply is good for your future upgrade with any new SLI nvidia Video Card.

What kind of budget are you on?

What sort of applications do you use? A Q6600 will be a better investment if you do any multi-tasking or use any software that utilizes four cores such as photoshop.

Do not get 8600 GTS for gaming, it's a total waste of money. A single GeForce 8800 GTS outperforms SLI 8600 GTS.

Go with Windows Vista Premium. That extra $30 is well worth the money with all the features you get.

The rest looks fine.

Thank you both for replying.   I have about 2K to spend, give or take, and I am mostly looking for a product that could be upgraded at a later time both hardware and software wise if and when needed.

The good thing about DS is that they will be able to make a build that is easily upgradeable.  They will also upgrade for you for a fee.  Which to me, made the deal.

Everything you spec'd out looks good, except I would change two things; go with a 750 watt PS...I believe its fully capable of running dual GPU's and I'd switch up to the 8800GTS 320. I'm running both of those on my machine right now. Later when the 8800GTS's come down in price and more demanding games come out just throw in another 8800GTS 320 and you'll be upgraded to handle the latest games.

I've heard the same stuff that Skyr was saying...the 8600 GPU's are a waste...go for the 8800.

GruntMaster is right, the 750W Power Supply is good for upgrade to 2x SLI Dual 8800GTS, but it can't not upgrade to 2x SLI Dual 8800GTX, ACS3 and ULTRA nVidia Video Cards.

Get a 8800 GTX. Get another later if you need it.

The GTX has more memory, performs better, and cheaper then SLI 320MB GTS.

The rest looks good.
