Looks okay but you can change these things:
1.The XFX mobo to the EVGA 2. PSU to 1000W 3.Change your cooler to the CoolerMaster V8 4.You can get rid of the video card oc, the memory boost, and the windows tweak. That's not really needed because you can do those very easily by yourself and still get more for your money. |

How do I do the OC's on my own?

This will work much better. Price after savings is $2368. You don't need to overclock the GPU, memory, or pay to tweak windows. Use that money to buy parts for your computer. If you have any money left upgrade the ram to 6GB.

Once you get the machine re-post in this post and everyone will help you with GPU and memory overclock. I really don't think you need to do that anyway, the machine will be fast and will take whatever you can throw at it.

So it's cheaper to buy/install the top-of-the-line video card outside of DS?

If you let them install the video card on the system they can make sure that it works for your machine. They do a lot of testing to ensure you get a pc that works and will last. Remember when they install it you get the 3 year no hassle warranty, that's worth the extra money.
I have had my system for 3 weeks and I am glad I let them do all the work. Besides the one I gave you is cheaper than the one you configured, so you are already saving money, lol. In any case it is your money so spend it however you like. |

Oh, if you select no video card they won't be able to test your machine to ensure it works.

OK, I'm going to ask a bunch of questions at once to make this less time-consuming.
1-Will RAID options improve my computer's gaming performance significantly? If so, do I need to add anything more than I currently have to use RAID?
2-Is buying "2x" the same as simply adding something to my "Hard Drive Set 2?"
3-What's an "Add-on card" for graphics?
4- Using my current config with the HAF 932, how much more space will I have for the future if I want to add more RAM, another video card, etc.?

I'm also looking for a new monitor to go with this tower because I'm still using the old white TV-looking monitor. So I believe it's 1024×768.

4. with my config and e06028's config, you can can add up to 16GB of ram but more then 6GB will be a waste for you.
you can 3 GPUs total. 3. add-on cards are TV cards or Physx card. 2. 2x is 2 HDDs in raid. 1. raid will improve your load times but a faster HDD is better then putting 2 drives in a raid, which is how you do raid. in around a month a new SSD is coming out called vertex 2, its by OCZ, it will be faster then 2 veloci raptors in raid. when it comes out get that for your HDD1 for OS/apps/games and then push the 500GB to HDD2 for personal/media file storage I meant what is the new monitor's resolution going to be Edited by DST4ME - 21 Mar 2009 at 4:40pm |

Well, you disregatded DST4ME's advice (when he answered your 4 questions)concerning the HDD config, so I'm not sure what feedback you're expecting. Doesn't mean you're obligated to follow it, I'm just saying... I'd go with 1333 RAM instead of the 1866. I'm not even sure if you could run the 1866 - shows what I know! |

@YankBastard, you are wasting your money with that build.
your HDD setup is a waste and a bad idea, your ram is a waste, people with 1333 will have better speed then you, and in games you might have a 5fps gain. |

I'm looking at buying a monitor which has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 or 1920 x 1200. With that configuration above will I be able to run most new games at highest without experiencing much problems, or will I need more?

Maybe a bit off topic, but how long does it take from when I actually purchase online to when it shows up on my doorstep? On average. Because I'm reading through and seeing people who are waiting several weeks after for one reason or another.

If there is any wait, its due to parts not being available, this is not DS's fault.
some people as for high speed ram and sometimes that does not play nice or somethings don't play nice together. on the average we see people take 3 to 5 business day to build and then about a week for shipping, so I would say around 2 weeks, if you are closer to them, shipping should take less time. the build I have up there for you should zip thru I would imagine, since there is no special part there, the only thing I can thing of is the 295 GTX but as far as I know, they have those in. Would getting a level 1 liquid cooling enable DS to give my a higher OC'd CPU? And do you know what the average OC is with the Cooler Master V8?
Thanks in advance.

we have seen the 920 with the v8 be between 3.3 and 3.8GHz and with the LC we have seen it be between 3.5 and 3.8GHz.
I say go with the v8 and get 6GB of 1333MHz Mushkin ram. the performance of a 1 x 295 is closer to 2 x 260+ Edited by DST4ME - 07 Apr 2009 at 12:16am |

Is there a page that explains how upgrades work for DS? I might have to get a lower system but I plan to do many upgrades in the near future. Can you upgrade a chassis?

you can upgrade anything however upgrading the case for example is kinda foolish, pick the case you want from beginning, otherwise its lot of money wasted, the concept behind upgrading is that you get things that can handle being upgraded, for example you get a case that can handle upgrades, you don't upgrade a case.
you want to pic a case, PSU, and mobo that can handle future upgrades, then the future upgrades can be: CPU, GPU, HDD/other drives, ram. does that make sense? Edited by DST4ME - 08 Apr 2009 at 3:52pm |

Yeah I only chose the 750 because I know I can upgrade later when I'm looking to upgrade the video card. Is it more expensive to upgrade the power later?
Also, how does upgrading work? I mail back in the system and upgrade something like the video card for cheaper?

YankBastard as I mentioned PSU is one of those foundations you want to pick the right one from beginning cause that is not one of the things you want to upgrade, otherwise its not worth it to upgrade like that.
if you go with my system you don't need to send the PC anywhere to upgrade, if you do it the way you want to, then you will pay lots lots more for upgrade. the way the upgrade works is very simple, if you get the system I mentioned, the only things you will ever need to upgrade are GPUs, ram and HDD, all low price and easy to change your self, and when I say easy I mean your 12 year old cousin can do it. Now in my system I don't see any GPU upgrades needed, only upgrade you yourself need to do is add 3 more GB of ram and maybe a faster HDD. the things is that if you buy your upgrade parts from DS and have them install it, a. you will be without your PC for minimum of 2 weeks, b. you will have to pay labor fees, c. you will have to pay shipping fees back and forth, d. you will pay more for the parts as they cost less on newegg. so in short you don't want to spend $300 on a PSU now and then $500 on another PSU later for total of $800 or whatever it is, this way you are basically paying twice for the PSU. If you don't think you will ever upgrade the gpus then your psu is ok. |

took out bad statement, looked more into it and after some discussions with others found out the real problem.
DST is right on the PSU, if you get a 750 now, you will be limited in your upgradablility. "Future-proof your system" (i'm crediting that to DST,) and get a 1000. they can handle 3 GPU's with no problem. Think of it this way. Guy A goes and gets a new Computer, pays a bit more upfront and gets the 1000 watt. a few months later he gets new GPU's and just has them installed. Guy B: skimps on the PSU and wants to get new cards. First he has to order a new PSU, ($). now he has to install it and hope he knows what he is doing, (Time). and hes got this 750 PSU that no one will want to buy so he has a new paperweight. Kaleliar that statement is not correct, the 1333 ram does not bottle neck anything, atcully the 1333 ram will have better timinig. ram has nothing to do with OC anymore, and even if it did, with a mulitplier of 8 a 1333MHz ram can easily take you to 5.4GHz if not higher, i7 has a multiplier of 21 or higher.
for example here is a member with 920, 1333MHz ram and 3.7GHz OC. Edited by DST4ME - 10 Apr 2009 at 2:26pm |

Well, placed my order. Had to make a few cuts due to some unexpected budget problems. But it's ok. I'll just upgrade more in the future.

looks like you got all the important parts, I think you will save some money if you go with a 275 instead of the 285, they are kind of close but the 275 is much cheaper, if you just ordered today then its not too late to change
