Build looks great.

I would suggest changing your primary drive to the Samsung 970.    The 970 is a NVME Drive, pcie interface, and many times faster than the SATA interface of the DS m.2. Not all m.2 are created equal.

Do VR games support sli?    Last I looked, they don’t sli, but that might be changing.

You don’t need the overclocks.   The video card oc is minor and the cpu already Turbo clocks to 4.7.    Not all cores, but 4.6 on 2 cores, 4.5 on 3 , etc.

Hope this helps and stay in touch.

Thanks for the info. I will switch the primary drive and eliminate the overclocks. Is there an advantage to keeping the SLI for PC games that support it? I appreciate the help.
Thank you. java

For games that support sli, it really depends on the game and the resolution your monitor is.   4K gaming can use sli 1080Ti for higher frames at higher graphics settings, but below 4K the benefit drops off fast.  Even ideally, the second card sometimes will only get you 20-30% bump, but again, very game dependant.

If you need a rig right now, I'd go single 1080Ti.  New cards are dropping in a few months with big jumps in performance, supposedly.

IMO, the 1080 Ti is such a powerful card you would not see any return on that investment for the forseeable future, if ever. Again, IMO, SLI was useful when cards were limited in their onboard RAM and speed, and you really needed an assist from a second card to optimize a high-end experience.

Multiple card set-ups, however, never doubled output: might give you a 60% additional boost if you were lucky. Many games (if not most) would not even recognize the second card at all. The 1080Ti comes with 11GB (!) of GDDR5X and will power anything you you want to throw it at. Alone, it's more powerful than dual 980 Ti's, last cycle's top cards. Just looking to maybe save you $980!

Thank you both. I really appreciate your advice. I will modify the config to eliminate the second card.

I don't think you'll ever second guess that. Now you have $980 to put toward a next gen card when you think you need it!
