Config help almost ordered Alienware Aurora R4

Budget:
$2000 and below

Expectations:
Good 3 year run

Usage:
WOW and SWTOR

As you know the Alienware goes for $2200 base. The only upgrade to that spec was going with the GTX 560 Ti. I also really liked the Liquid Cooling aspect of the system.

But my friends said I could find a system with similar specs for $500 or more less than that with similar specs and I was just paying for the Dell/Alienware name.

So I was looking at the Black Ops models and I was looking at the --------------- models on their site.

I went through so many configurations but they seem to all put me close to the alienware specs.    Any suggestions of what matches or is better spec than the new alienware that puts me under $2000?

I didn't want overkill but I also wanted something that would keep me current for the most part for a good 2 to 3 years with minimal upgrades if possible where I can keep the Case for the long haul.

Alienware is a joke, and thats not real lc system.

what res you gaming at?

Don't even get me started on on that competitor.

I've been gaming with Dell Laptops for the past 8 years but mainly doing WOW. Haven't bought a monitor in years. LOL.    I have an XPS 1645 currently and that is set to 1920 x 1880 (recommend) so i'm in the market for one of those too.   I was going to connect the desktop to my 46 inch TV sometimes to game until I bought a monitor.

I wanted my gaming to be portable so i bought laptops.   But after loading SWOTR, the performance is ok, but not good. The response time in the game is a bit delayed.

Ok so first lets figure out the monitor:

Most important thing about a monitor is its panel, right now there are 2 major ones, TN and IPS, IPS has superior picture quality/clarity.

1. response time is a bs number, its there to fool you and does not represent the true response time of the monitor, there is no real way of truly finding what response time is, the closest to it is white to white but you don't see that, you see grey to grey or black to black cause they give small numbers to fool users but they don't mean anything, there are different methods to get these numbers also, and each will give a different number as results, therefore you can even compare one to the other, cause we don't know what method was used for which, and even if we did, still GTG or BTB don't mean anything.

2. contrast ratio is also bs number.

here is a good ips panel, at guess what, its from dell:

Dell UltraSharp u2312

unlike their pcs their ips monitors are great.

I too have dell pcs from past, but if you want a good pc that you can easily upgrade then you want a custom system, you bring forth Alienware's and Dells best and I will bring my pc in my sig from DS, you get the point, I know you don't need all that but for your money you can get something that will blow those chumps away.

What if I also want to also play games like Battlefield 3? I also don't want to be limited.

To max out games like bf3 you need sli 570.

a good proper sli build with ssd goes for around $2900.

the cheapest sli 570 is ode 3 ($2339), it has upgrade limitations, for example we recommend gpu upgrade every 2 years so the pc stays power and feeling new in gaming, in the future if you want to upgrade the sli to future cards and they have needs of a 580 sli the 800w of ode 3 can't do it.

well that is not sli or 570 for one, second dont like your psu, no ssd and dont' like your cpu cooler.

if you want quality/better performing psu, cpu cooler then you don't want that, I only recommend parts I know and trust to be quality with a long track record of performance and reliability.

In short a big no to that build.

to make that into quality build:

Ticket Number: 639027

and you will need to add a ssd and another 570 to that system to make it complete and max out bf3 at your res.


or you do this and add gpu ssd and better hdd later, tho hdd upgrade can wait if you need it to:

90% of your noise comes from gpu's fan when under load.

other then that, noise should be minmal, if you want less noise it will cost more (change a70 to noctua d14) but sound difference between the two is not much, the d14 is a little more quiet.
