First of all I have really enjoyed my DS.  It has been a great system and has not let me down in the 4 years of very hard use.

But what is brought me back to DS is the fantastic support I have received for the minor problems that have occurred.

Again my system is great and running strong but it is just too loud and I need something quiet that will be a strong gamer and function with Photo shop.  All other uses will be rather mundane.

The biggest priority will be it "must be quiet".  Does not have to be silent but I can hear my present system two rooms away.

I want everything passive if possible.

Budget is around $2,000.  Been looking at the Slade.

It is supposed to be quiet but I know that term is relative.  So how quiet is quiet?

This is what I was looking at.

Hi Harry...... That is a nice build you put together.    For quiet., the Slade 550D is about as quiet as you can get. Its closed case design does give it less airflow in favor of quiet but for this system would work very good.

Here's another way to go that pushes your budget to the limit but does have advantages.
I can't cut/ paste a config right now so just just punch it in.

Config # 729581      cost$ 2016

It has a x79 quad channel ram motherboard as opposed to the z77's dual channel. The quad channels much wider bandwidth ram would help with Photoshop and other ram intense apps.

The Sabertooth mobo allows sli.,. 2x video card and has a 5 year warranty compared th most others 3 year warranty. Its a very good quality mobo.

I upped the video card to gtx670, better performance for more longevity.    The 660ti is also good so your call.

The cpu cooler I changed to the Hyper212 for dependability.    The Vortex is also very good but just a little more to go wrong.

Your build is very good as-is but wanted to show you an alternate config.
Good luck.

Looks very nice and thanks for the input but I wonder about the noise level of the GPU or any of the other changes.

I would obviously like the strongest GPU I could afford but the 660 Ti is supposed to be very quiet.

I want a gamer but only so far as it remains relatively quiet.

Here's a link comparing the 660 to 670 in performance, noise, etc.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/647?vs=598

The 670 is bit noisier but not by much.

The cpu coolers I'm not sure.       If memory serves me right, they would also be close.
