I was wondering if a few knowledgeable people here could provide me with their opinions on this config.  I'm pretty much at my current budget limit with this specific build, but will be able to add/change things down the road.  Is this a good setup for future changes and/or expansion?  Currently using a 19" LCD screen, and looking to do everything from gaming, to music, to photo editing, and movie watching.  I also have a spare 500gb sata drive I will be adding for extra storage.

Also, does anyone know what brand DS uses for videocards?  Is there a choice?  If so, what brand would be recomennded?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Thanks for the advice :)  I forgot to switch the case to the Cooler Master HAF.  I was wondering though, I came across another builder ibuypower.com, and I priced out a similar build to the original I posted above.  The price is cheaper, plus I get 64-bit Vista, a better video card, and more memory.  Any thoughts?  Why go with Digital Storm?

zootelevision, I'm gonna try to make this short, me and the rest of the members here, already know about all the other builders that on paper look like they have the same system for cheaper, and yet we are going to buy here.

the reason is that those builders are not as quality as DS and the parts they use is not the same, its says HAF case, but don't be surprised when you get your HAF and it has none of the fans it comes with for example. I would not use a system from ibuypower or cyberpower if you paid for it then paid me to use it.

its your money, but I wouldn't trust anybody else with my money, I'm not just gonna give it to anybody, DS has proven to me they put out quality systems and bent over back wards to make sure customer is happy.

Zootelevision,

I monitor both this and the Ibuypower forum.  The Digital Storm forum mostly contains posts from folks enjoying their new machines or helping others optimize theirs.  The Ibuypower forum is mostly people in despair after reading about others that received broken computers or receiving poor support.

I know for a fact that the HAF 932 that you get from Digital Storm is exactly like the HAF 932 on Coolermaster's web site.  Ibuypower apparently gets the HAF 932 in some sort of OEM version that does not feature all the fans.

Spend a few days reading the posts here and you will understand why we bought Digital Storm.  Support & Service are the reasons I went with Digital Storm.  Nothing against Ibuypower but they sure seem to have a lot of unhappy customers.  I wanted to spend my time enjoying a beast of a system not wasting time hassling about getting a working machine.

I too first went to ibp to build me a system. I was a customer of their's 3 years ago and never had a problem.

However, before I found this place I did a little digging. - Outside Link Removed - and the BBB showed that ibuypower had a dodgy track record. Rumors of badly damaged parts, missing parts and even refurbished equipment everywhere. So looking through their warranty info I found this:

"iBUYPOWER warrants this product and its parts against defects in materials or workmanship for three years labor and one year parts from the original date of invoice. During this period, iBUYPOWER will repair or replace defective parts with new or reconditioned parts at iBUYPOWER option, without charge to you. All original parts replaced by iBUYPOWER or its authorized service centers, become the property of iBUYPOWER. You are responsible for the payment, at current rates, for any service or repair outside the scope of this limited warranty."

That was all I needed to see.

So tomorrow is pay day and after paying bills I will be able to place my order with Digital Storm.

Now I just have to figure out how much credit I'm going to need to dip into...Hug

By the way,  Digital Storm has an unbelivable A+ rating with the BBB.  It was like winning the lottery when I found this forum.  I have been extremely happy with my new beast and the service and support after the sale was what clinced the deal for me.

Like so many others here I love DS because of their customer service and the quality of their machines. Those here who have had problems and voice them on this forum are also being taken care of or have been taken care of. I was a customer of CP in January and will never go back there again even if they were the only ones selling computers and even if they were the only way to get a computer. I would go without before paying for a headache. I have read their forums also and its seems that when customers post computer problems they are not taken care of. Very few seem to get the help they seek. That's my thoughts on at least two of the other companys that are related.

Customer Service, that is all there to it, we could build the system ourselves and it would be cheaper, but the level of support is nothing short of extra ordinary here. Both the forums and the staff at DS is awesome. Right now I have just received mine and can tell you it is awesome. And I am more than confident that any concerns that rise up will be dealt with to my satisfaction by DS.
Why do they blame me for all their little failings? They use my name as if I spent my entire day sitting on their shoulders, forcing them to commit acts they would otherwise find repulsive - Lucifer

Thank you all for the advice and input.  You've made my decision pretty easy and will now go with DS.  However, my above build, plus the HAF case, is at about the max for my budget.  DST4ME recommended a similar build with a GTX 260, but that and the other recommendations put me over my limit.  What's the best bang for the buck as far as video cards go?  Should I stick with the 8800GT?  My $ limit is about $1,650.

Thanks again for all the advice, and future help/responses.

go with 9800gt, this way you can add/change things down the road, and the price after current promotion should be around $1650

Unless I can find a friend to build me a pc, DS is going to be my top choice.

Hi DST :)  Thanks again for the help / input.  I was wondering where the 9800gt ranks on the video card list from Tom's Hardware.  I don't see it listed.

toms hardware is really old and does not show current drives either.

to be honest its not that close to the 285 or 295, the 260+ does much better also. you might be better off going with 8800 ultra
