Just have a few questions 1. How does theKiller NIC M1 (Features LLR Technology) Lag and Latency Reduction work and is it worth it? 2. Is my hard drive set up effective? 3. Would it be better to go for the 1.792GB graphics or go with the dual 1GB graphics in the clearance section for $100 more? 4. Is the 1600mhz memory noticiably faster then the 1333mhz? 5. Right monitor or go with bigger one or smaller one? 6. Any other suggestions? Im definitely buying my next computer off you guys just need some help, thanks! |

I would go with 6 gigs of 1333 ram and drop the killer NIC card altogether. Or you could put the money you were going to spend on the NIC card towards 1600mhz ram. You won't see much a difference performance wise, but im sure it would be noticeable vs the nic card and its unproven gains.
Drop the windows tweak, with the core I7 any small changes to windows wont have any effect on its performance.
As for the hard drive, you might want to just get a 500gig now and wait for ocz's vertex 2 as it is quite a bit faster then the veloci. Although if your not willing to wait then your HD setup is pretty optimal.
I have 2 24inch monitors atm and love them and couldn't fathom the thought of anything smaller, so id def go with a 24inch+ if I was you.
This would be a much better build if you like liquid cooling as an option.

Dsnewb210 has a great build for you, I would lower to 1333MHz in his build tho and hold off on the veloci for faster ssds coming out as he mentioned, going off his build here is a different version:

Theres no date set in stone, some claim that it will be out the end of this month.. Others say mid next month and some say its not ocming out
DST4ME Why did you go with 2 gtx 275s? I mean I guess a 295 is 2 275's, are the 275s cheaper then the 295?
I also heard the 295 has had its production stopped and its going to be phased out for a single pcb 295 model.

not sure if production is stopped, but yes they are coming out with a single PCB, I don't think it will make a huge difference, right now 2 x 275 is faster then 1 x 295 and cheaper. 295 is like 2 x 260+ not 275, I have seen people say this falsely in Nvidia forums and other places.
for example in far cry 2 you get 69fps from 295, and 46fps from single 275, you can see 2 x 275 will do better then 1 x 295, of course the difference is not much in most games but the price here is lower for the sli. Edited by DST4ME - 09 Apr 2009 at 2:35am |
