I need a new PC and have come up with the following configuration. Constructive comments and suggestions welcome.
Info: system for the usual productivity suite/email work, gaming (FP shooters, not at max res/fps), a little desktop publishing and illustration work but most importantly digital imaging - Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3.

My thinking...
SSD for OS and primary programs speed.
This MoBo seems sufficient. Not so interested in pseudo-SATA 3.
Lots of RAM to feed a hungry Photoshop and avoid scratch disk usage - some of my film scans are around 1 GB before adding layers etc in PS.
PSU - enough, too much, too little?
Graphics card - seems fine for my level of gaming and for PS. 5870 and GTX 470
   benchmarks are similar overall
Overclock?? speed good but any instability very bad. May consider stage 1
May add usb 3 via card later.

750tx psu should be plenty
 
graphics should be fine as long as you understand where these cards land in the market. a budget of 2500ish calls for a 480 in my opinion, but if you dont feel you would use it, stick with what you have
 
you arent going to have a stability problem in stage1. if youre worried about being stable, run prime95 for a day when you get it. if it passes that, the chances of bsod are slim
 
looks good otherwise. that is a ton of hdd space.. like really a ton. consider using 1 tb inside and 1tb as a usb or esata sometimes connected backup

for your os, i would go for x2 80gb SSD in raid 0 instead of a 160gb SSD. Same price, better performance

Edit* By the way, the gpu you choosed for PS/LR will be enough. If you really are into big illsutration in PS, even more in cs5, i would recommend to go with a quadro card... ya kinda bad for gaming but if youre after opengl fonctions.. you cant go wrong. But ya, with your budget, your card is great. rams good.. 2x 80gb ssd in raid 0 will help alot with PS (trust me!).

If you have more to put into your system and its really if you are after every little things to help out with PS, even if you work with 1-2g files in PS... go with a 980x. Six core help a ton. But a overclocked 930 to 4Ghz go well too. Its really the six core that make a huge difference in PS.

but ya, when i work with PS on 300dpi 2g file size... i use my mac ;-)

RAID 0 80GB's according to him perform less compared to a 160GB and low TRIM

the overall performance i think youre right... but i tried both on my previous system and it make a big difference when its about opening/saving multiple gig size psd/uncrompess files in PS. That was mostly the reason of this suggestion... i should have told about it :( my bad
