Welcome to DS. That is a very nice configuration. The Velox is a DS proprietary design and the window is on the right hand with the mobo mounted upside down. I would go with the faster NVMe drive. The M.2 designates the form factor of the drive. They can be SATA or NVMe. Also the mobo has good sound but since you are using it for music production, the sound card might be better. Someone with more experience can shed some light on that subject. What resolution will you be (or are) using? There will probably be suggestions from more knowledgeable members but this will give you a starting point.

Monitor resolution is the key to how much to invest in graphics. The new Nvidia line may be announced today for September release, and committing to a 2080 before we see the new high end might be a costly error.
For sure you want an NVMe SSD for your primary drive. 5 times faster than the DS one you picked. |

The Firecuda is very good, but fairly new. The Samsung 512GB 970 PRO is better just for it's proven reliability over several years, you pick.
This close to the release of the new top line Nvidia cards, you should definitely consider waiting just to see what's new. They have announced a "Geforce Special Event" on September 1. The RTX 2080 is a very strong card for 1440p. It won't disappoint. The upcoming 3070 would possibly perform as well for less money, but no one is saying if it will be available out of the gate. Fun times. |
