    Posted: 25 Feb 2009 at 3:05pm
Would appreciate a configuration that would work with around a 1200 X 1600 resolution on a 22" to 24" lcd monitor playing mostly FS X with lots of add ons, It would be very nice if I could play it on the highest settings and maintain a good fps rate. I also like need for speed games if that makes any difference. Will be using a link sys router (g) for real world weather updates also. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Of course I will say as low as possible, but I understand you also get what you pay for. So to answer the question, is it possible to build a system for around 2g ? Or would it need to be doubled or more ? Is it possible you could give me two configurations, one that is nice and one that is kick budda ? Thanks in advance for your time.

for your resolution this should be fine, the way I have designed your system, it allows you to upgrade and make it more powerful.

this system can handle 5 HHDs, 3 x 260 gtx or 3 x 285 GTX, or 2 x 295 GTX, 6 optical drives and will be pretty fast.

so if you are not happy with the GPU power of one 260 you just add a second one.

here is a top of the line system but it still has room for improvement.

The first configuration is certainly much easier to start with on the pocket book, so that is the one I am currently considering, one question? Will it play FS X at the highest settings with a high fps rate ?

well I noticed you said your resolution is 1200 x 1600, that does not sound right, did you mean 1600 x 1200? if so and if fsx supports sli, for high setting at that resoution you would want 2 x 260+, so add another one, but check and make sure that fsx supports sli first, I don't want to give you bad advise.

check our game section harleyman is our fsx guru.
