Hello everyone and thank you in advance for taking the time to look at and/or help with my configuration. Lets jump on in...
Budget: $2000-3000 (Absolute max at $3100 for PC itself) Please compensate for ground shipping when making suggestion configurations. Thanks ![]() Needs: Solid performance for games, media creation/editing, streaming internet video, and DVD/Blu-Ray playback. 1 Gaming: FPS / RTS / MMO / RPG --- SWTOR, Crysis I + II, Supreme Commander I + II, Call of Duty MW2 + Black Ops, Torchlight, Bad Company II and so on... Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Black OPS Assassin Edition2 Media Creation/Editing: Primarily Adobe Photoshop (not all that good, but hope to get better) and Adobe Premier. I hope to expand to other suits as I get better with my media creation skills. 3 Video Playback: Going to use as personal theater so it needs to handle streaming and local video playback well. Wants, Expectations, Special Needs: This is primarily summed up in the "Needs" part, but I have a few things to add. 1: I want this configuration to last a long time. +5 years preferably. 2: Hassle free; ie. no changing LC fluid every 3yrs. (I can handle cleaning out fans and stuff though )3: I will be using a 23' 16:9 LCD, 1920x1080 resolution monitor (IPS panel, 8ms response time, 178 degrees viewing angle both horizontally and vertically). Hoping that the PC configured could run games on that (at max settings) smoothly. 4: Solid performance in games, media creation/editing, video streaming and local DVD/Blu-Ray playback, multitasking, and everyday use. 5: Fast boot up and shut down times along with fast game/application loads (see "Notes" for a better explanation). Notes: Just a few here... 1: I DO want the ram fan. ![]() 2: I plan on putting applications/programs and OS on SSD so there are fast boot up and shut down times along with fast game/application loads. I plan on saving all files to another HDD. To make it clearer since I don't know if I am getting my point across... I just want Adobe Premier or Crysis to load up fast (or faster than on a normal 7200rpm HDD), but I will save my movie file or game data to the normal HDD if and when the program will let me choose a destination for data. So I guess I would like a decently sized SSD. ![]() 3: I really don't see how the Asetek 240mm LC system would fit in the Silverstone "Assassin" case. Does anyone know if DSO can get it in there? When configuring it doesn't say "That doesn't work" or something along those lines and there aren't any little side notes in the drop down box when you select it like for some of the other options. 4: I do prefer having two optical drives that can read and write/burn DVDs and CDs. I guess that is it for now...Here's the configuration # 477386 - $2922 Thanks again for looking and helping me out. Well your HDD setup is what we recommend to users here anyways:
HDD1 = fast small drive: os/apps/games HDD2 = regular large drive: media/personal/work file storage now for asetek, you don't want that, and there are better cases then the assassin IMO. Also my builds have a higher oc, which is much faster in everything else, just not games. Edited by DST4ME - 11 Jan 2011 at 10:34pm |

Thanks for taking the time to review and configure some systems for me DST4ME. Just a few questions.
![]() 1. Why choose AIR: Stage 1: Noctua NH-U12P SE Dual 120mm Fans High Performance Cooler over H20: Stage 2: Asetek Liquid CPU Cooler (240mm Radiator) (High-Performance Edition) ? 2. Would getting 2x SLI Dual (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 1.2GB (Includes PhysX Technology) produce performance between a single 570 and two SLI 570s? |

because asetek is not a real lc system, its perfomrance is on par with Noctua, there is no reason whatsoever to go with asetek.
Yes it would and it would also be a bad idea. either go 570 or sli 570 it gives you the best performance per dollar. rule number one in gpu selection is" always go with single solution card that gives you what you want when possible". |
