Hey drpepper13... Looks pretty good. Maybe let go of the 1866 mhz RAM... I'd suggest switch to the Dominator 1600 mhz RAM or to the DS in house 1600 mhz RAM, as you likely would never notice the difference, and 1600 mhz is preferred for the OC.
You will definitely find a preference here on the DS forums for NVidia GPU's....so try this build with a GTX 680 and bumped up to the i7 3770.... # 774672 for $2482..... The Ode Level 4 for $2499 with SLI GTX 670 would be the better value for your budget & best gaming performance. Hope that is helpful to you....

Yes I have heard several things about the ODE Level 4, but to me that just isn't as exciting as building my own as it does not have any configuration available. I will defiantly look into the 680. I only switched the i7 to a i5 because 99% of the use for this computer will be for gaming. Also do you think going with dual sli will be better for 2 monitors? And thanks for the feedback!

Well the Ode system is definitely the best bang for the buck in your budget range, but I certainly understand the desire to customize your build. The Half-X case is a great choice, and has the best air flow. You would be fine with the 3570 CPU if gaming is all you plan to use it for.
Keep in mind that the GTX 670 offers performance within 5-10% of the 680, but is much less expensive....making it a smart choice. For your budget target, 2 x SLI GTX 670's would offer far more graphics performance than a single GTX 680, but one 680 would also play at high settings. One GTX 670 or one GTX 680 is capable of running up to 3 monitors gaming, and one doing other non-gaming tasks. SLI in general would provide even better multi-monitor graphics performance. You would have enough power for 2 x SLI using the Corsair 1050w PSU. That would be the preferred way to go for best frame rates with multi-monitor setups.

Since you are going with stage 2 OC I would change the CPU cooler to either the Vortex 240 or the Noctua NH-D14. If you go with the Vortex 240 it will mount to the top of the case replacing the top 200mm fan in the HAF X case. The D14 is a big air cooler that mounts inside the case and would be quieter and less to go wrong.
Both the Vortex 240 and the Noctua NH-D14 have good track records.

If I went with 2x Dual Sli 670 2gb, is there any reason to overclock them? And my mom says to keep the price as low as I can, how much of a difference is just doing one 680 to the dual's? Also I was planning on ordering this yesterday but ended up being to late, and they were closed. Should I wait until Monday to order it? Or is it okay to order it like today? I just want to make sure I am available if they call me on Monday.

Hi drpepper13... I'm a little late to this but the others gave you great advice. The build you just posted is right on.
Just to add, your stated wish to play all games on max settings would require a sli setup. This single gtx 670 will do that on your monitor for most. Some shooters will need the settings lowered a bit but still great gaming. There is alot of hype to play at max everything when on a 24" monitor turning down the most demanding settings like aa makes little difference in quality of gameplay. Your latest config nailed it. No need to oc the card. If you never want to sli then the 800w psu will do it, but the hx is a nice psu with lomger warranty. You can order today but they might not do much until Monday with their regular hours. Not sure though. They'll get back to you either way. Edited by bprat22 - 12 Jan 2013 at 1:12pm |

And since you have an SLI capable Sabertooth mobo and ample 1050w PSU, you can always add a second GTX 670 4gb later for SLI performance....Great build...

Thank you man! I was figuring that they wouldn't do anything until Monday, but there would be anything wrong with ordering today would there? They would just start it on Monday I would assume. Anyways, thank you for the feedback guys! And I will very soon be a happy customer of Digital Storm
