I basically did some research on where to buy my computer and saw a ad on cnet about DS. After looking, viewing, and reading the forums, I have my mindset to DS. And I must say, they just seem amazing and cheaper then what I've been looking at. Now I won't be buying this computer right now, or any time soon. More so around after Christmas.
Now I'm not looking into playing Crysis on the highest settings or have the highest end rig thats going to cost a load of money, but more so play steam based games (Left 4 Dead, Call of Duty, CS:S, ect.) and keep my budget somewhat "low". Now I would love some feedback on this config :). What is my budget? I want to try to keep it between $1400 - $1600.
What are you using the computer for? Gaming, surfing the net, watching movies, music, basically everything.
What games/types do you like the most? FPS
What size monitor are you using? 22in. --------------------------------------------Link to config: http://www.digitalstormonline.com/comploadsaved.asp?id=212190 Chassis Model: Antec 900 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Interior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz (1333MHz FSB) (12MB Cache) Motherboard: CLEARANCE HOT SELLER: NVIDIA 680i SLI Core 2 Quad (Chipset: nForce 680i SLI) (A1 REV) System Memory: 2GB DDR2 667MHz Corsair Power Supply: 650W Corsair TX (Dual SLI Compatible) Card Reader: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 500GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: CLEARANCE HOT SELLER: 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 896MB (Includes PhysX Technology) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: Standard Factory Heat-sink and Fan Liquid Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a H20: Stage 3 Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Internal Chassis Lighting System (Blue) Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Boost Processor: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my processor Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Tweak Windows: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: - No Thanks, Please test my memory, I will be responsible for software based support Restore Kit: Digital Storm Specialized Recovery System (DVD Image Based) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks LCD Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks Warranty: 3 Year Platinum Care Extended Parts & Labor Warranty Edited by Makhunter - 04 Dec 2008 at 11:31pm |

that is OK if your monitor resolution is 1680 x 1050 or higher then you will want 2 GPUs to play at high settings.
for two 260 GTX you best go with 750w PSU. an i7 setup would be better but the price is $300 off your $1700 budget you might want to go with a 260+ GTX vs the regular 260 GTX you have picked right now. I would also recommend going with vista 64bit and also you should go with 4GB of ram. but I mainly advise you to wait and see what prices are when you are actually ready to purchase, maybe you get lucky and you can end up with a i7 setup lets see whats what when you are ready to get one |

680i doesn't support Q9550. It will only support the duo cores or the older quads Q6600, Q6700, and QX6850.
If you need a quad core, you will probably want 4GB to go with all that multi-tasking. |

I might be able to go up to 1700 possibly 1800, just might take a bit longer to get it. But I must agree with DST, I'll wait till Christmas to see exactly what happens. Thanks for the input skyr and dst, much appreciaion :).
