Two 1920 x 1080 monitors...does running two monitors affect video card choice in anyway? Few Questions; 1. Does DS give you an opportunity to extend the warranty after the 3 years are up? 2. Do HD's in Raid 0 have the amount of space on both drives, or only one? (i.e. 300 gb vs 150 gb in this configuration) 3. Would a single SSD be faster then the two raided raptors? Also, what are the read/write speeds on the two raided raptors? 4. How difficult is it to remove the Memory fan kit to add more ram at a future date. That's it for now but i'll prob have more questions in a bit... Well there are few questions I can answer, as I have never owned a SSD, or have ran two monitors. BUT here we go.
1. I believe the only way to extend warranty is to select the 4year/5year warranty's in the config.
2.The fan kit I am sure is easy to remove (though I am not speaking from experience) I am sure it is smilier to the CPU fan and heatsink, if so its easy.
Thats about all I got lol. I'm sure DST will find this post soon and shed more light.
If it helps in ANY way I for one have always preferred one HD rather the two in raid.though I cant give you any specs, that is just my personal preference.

Raid 0 combines the two HDDs into one virtual HDD, so if you have 2x 150G then you will have 300G. The capacity of one is obtained only when you use raid 1 or a combination with raid 1.

your raid won't help with seektime so ssd is always faster, for read and write the intel will keep up if not beat.
yes raid 0 combines the drive's size. very easy to remove fan kit. you have to pick 5 years at the time of purchase. this would be better: here you go Ticket# 287621 --- Price: $3994 (To see this build click here) Price after current promotion $3819 Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: Cooler Master HAF 932 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Interior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz (Quad Core) Motherboard: EVGA X58 3X SLI (Intel X58 Chipset) (Supports Triple SLI or CrossFire) System Memory: 6GB DDR3 1333MHz Mushkin (Highly Recommended) (Digital Storm Certified) Power Supply: 1000W Corsair HX (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) (Silent Edition) Card Reader: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (160GB Solid State (By: Intel) (Extreme Performance) (Model: SDSA2MH160G1C5) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: 1x (500GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: 1x (500GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Optical Drive 1: Blu-Ray Player/DVD Writer (Play Blu-Ray and Burn DVDs) Optical Drive 2: DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x) (LightScribe Edition) Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 2x SLI Dual (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 896MB (Includes PhysX Technology) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 3: High-Performance Liquid Chilled FrostBite System For CPU Liquid Color:UV Blue: Medium Glowing Non-conductive Fluid (Requires H20: Stage 3 & UV Lighting) Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Internal Chassis Lighting System (UV) (Creates Glowing Effect For H20: Stage 3 UV Fluid) Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 2: Overclock the processor between 4.0GHz to 4.2GHz (Requires H20 Cooling Upgrade) Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: Memory Fan Kit Only (Does not include memory overclocking service) Tweak Windows: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Restore Kit: Digital Storm Specialized Recovery System (DVD Image Based) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks LCD Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-10 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: 3 Year Platinum Care Extended Parts & Labor Warranty |

Would raiding two smaller ssd's be better then a single large one?
Is the larger PSU required for what i had or is it to future proof? *also* Am i to assume two monitors as opposed to one isn't any different? Edited by NullForce - 27 May 2009 at 7:50pm |

not sure about monitor support, but you still run both of one card.
all SSDs are not the same, right now the Intel x25 E is kings the one you have is the x25 M which is still faster then other SSDs. you can't beat Intel in IOPS even with raid. now if you raid 2 x intel 80GB x25 M, that will be twice as fast as a single 160GB intel x25 M psu is to make sure you got what you need and have room to spare for future. I apologize, my English isn't working today, what i'm trying to ask is...
Does having two monitors mean i need to get better video card(s) then the specific resolution would normally demand on a single monitor?
From a different thread... That's why i have the idea that raiding two of the OCZ ssd's together would be better then the Intel ssd... Also, the only major upgrade I would perform on my own would be adding a third 275, is the PC P&C psu not capable of handling tri-sli 275 on my current setup? http://www.guru3d.com/article/pc-power-cooling-silencer-910-psu-review/1 Because that link seems to say otherwise and on newegg the 910w model is advertised as being to support 2x 295... Sorry about being so persistent about this but PC Power and Cooling has such a good reputation... Thanks! Edited by NullForce - 27 May 2009 at 8:36pm |

after looking at more charts and data, it clear that in iops vertex won't match intel. but yes 3 x 80GB vertex will give some great speeds.
a 1000w will support 2 x 295 or tri sli but it all depends what you have in your case, after the oc and all you might come short or be borderline, to be honest I would call DS and ask them for tri sli 275 what they recommend, cause I would suggest the 1200w for tri sli and the system I posted. |

Something like this...
Based on your previous post...am i correct in assuming you would recommend a single Intel ssd over the raided OCZ vertex's? at iops write in 4K, nothing can touch intel, but in other kinds the corsair hangs with intel x25 M. however intel x25 E is king and nothing can mess with it.
as for recommending which, honestly its upto you. |

What exactly is IOPS? Is it a combination of read/write tests?
If so, how does it compare to read/write speeds? |

I am using 4 Samsung 256 SSD's Raid 0 . I am using a rocket raid and get a transfer rate of 720 MB/sec and access time of .1 ms. Anywho that gives you an idea of what 4 SSD's do in raid 0.

iops is Input/Output Operations Per Second.
ssds already have a .1ms seektime, as I mentioned raid does not do anything for that. ocz atto iops: 2 x ocz raid 0: single intel x25 M: |

Thank you!
I'm trying to be as thorough as possible so i was looking up information regarding the Corsair ssd but i couldn't find any information regarding raid 0 Also, I was curious why it is substantially cheaper then the Intel/OCZ. Does a 50% increase in read speed = ~100% in price? (170MB/s @ +133$ vs 250MB/s @ 246$) Unless i'm missing something else...which is pretty likely |

I can't vouch for corsair but if you search Samsung SSD on Newegg the Corsairs come up because they use the same parts or is Samsung drives. I am using the Samsung drives and they are all in the $650 range for 256GB. I suspect that if you raid 0 2 samsung drives you would be around 400 /sec. and of course the seek time will be .1. I have.

Thanks, i was just curious why Corsair seemed to be soo much cheaper, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something like inferior quality lol
Yup, i pan on doing that ^^ On the subject of UV lighting, does anyone have any pictures of it? It doesn't seem to be that popular :( |

Awesome, that would be greatly appreciated!
I think i was more asking if anyone on here as the UV lighting and what are their opinions of it. *pictures of their systems would be cool too * I'm attracted to it because it's still "cool" but more subdued then the other internal lighting. Edited by NullForce - 28 May 2009 at 1:19pm |
