Need a little more information here. Are these fans that you purchased yourself? What fans are they and what type of plugs do the fans have, 3-pin? 4-pin? molex?

My bad. It's a ODE Level 4 system. Side fans came included. Two three pin black connectors coming from the fans...

Ok, that makes a difference since the ODE line does not normally come with side fans. The DS uses the clear side panel that does not allow for fans to be installed.
The 600T case that the ODE uses also has a mesh side panel that can be used instead of the clear side panel. Did you request that or is that just how the system came from DS? Normally DS will only assemble the ODE systems with the clear side panel and you have to ask them to send you the optional mesh panel and you have to install it yourself. Those 3-pin connectors are meant to be connected to the motherboard, which you can not really do with a side panel fan. It's going to require 3-pin to molex adapters so you can connect those fans directly to the PSU. Contact DS directly to ask them about your set up. The connectors may be tucked away in the case some place or they may be included in your box of spare parts. Edited by jmaster299 - 29 Feb 2012 at 7:20pm |

I was expecting a clear panel, but got mesh w/two fans. I did not request anything custom. Maybe because it's a level 4?
Kinda sucks that DS can't include simple instructions at least in their *ODE pre-built* systems for this. Just called them... their offices are closed. Not happy right now. |

If DS made changes to the set up like that it was more then likely due to the system temps. Those fans do not need to be hooked up to use your system, so fire it up and speak to DS tomorrow. You are right to be upset that you were not notified of any changes. Hopefully Alex will see this and address the issue and get the configuration page updated.
In the mean time look through your box of spare parts to see if they included any adapters. Also trace all the cables in the system to see if maybe they are already there. What can happen is everything can get wired up correctly by DS but the wires move during shipping and can get stuck in a weird place. Specifically look at the daisy chain molex power cable that connects from the PSU to the drive units. It's the most likely place for DS to have connected a 3-pin to molex adapter to power those side fans. Edited by jmaster299 - 29 Feb 2012 at 7:46pm |

@Dreamin,
The ODE Level 4 has been sold with the mesh side window vent for quite some time (since it was introduced) due to thermals. This isn't new, but, I do understand how the images do not show that. We recently did this when we upgraded the ODE Level 4 to the X79 platform. I'll have our team update the picture as soon as we can.

Yeah that's gotta get fixed as even a regular like me had no idea that the ODE 4 used the mesh panel with fans. It makes a lot of sense for the temps but there's no way to know that based on the configuration page.
Another suggestion, any time there are side fans, maybe use a little bit of tape to secure the connecting wires in an obvious place. There have been several threads from people complaining about not being able to find the cable to connect side fans to, mostly for the HAF X case. Just use a little tape and secure those connecting wires (the ones coming from the PSU) and secure them to the very bottom of the case inside or the the side of the HDD cage. Every connector / wire i can find in the case is a "female" plug... and the fan plugs are "female"... I can't find a "male" connector anywhere in the case... and i looked in the accessory box... no "male-to-male" converters.
So don't know how to proceed. |

That's new, the side fans coming with ODE 4. I think it's great.
The fans are either made to hook to mobo fan headers, which are male, or use this , Cables to GO -27078-6 inch 3-pin Fan to 4-pin Pass-Through Power cable at Amazon, as an example. I'm not saying to order them, just an example of what myself and others have used to coonect to 4-pin peripheral cable from psu. DS should have a plug hanging there somewhere, maybe stuffed under the HDD cages in the front, or behind the right side cover, or have directions on where to hook them for you. This, as jmaster said, has been a gripe we have had. A new rig should be a positive experience not frustration. The pc will work without them until you get an answer. Just keep max gaming to a minimum.

See that doesn't make sense. The plugs coming off the fans should be male, as that is how it is for all fans with 3-pin connections. Those 3-pin plugs are technically designed to be plugged into a mobo fan header which are always female.
It will really help if you could up load some pics of the fans along with a close up of their plugs and the other wires you have found inside the case |
