I installed a Silverstone fan controller the other day, along with two 180mm fans on my Raven RV01 case, I'm getting a bit nervous now, for the fact that the adjustment knob only makes an audible difference up to a little past the L mark, which i assume means low. The H mark is way beyond that. Basically, the knob doesn't do anything past a very small turning increment, if I turn the knob all the way, am I overvoltaging my fans?
Also, can you control the speeds of LED fans? More specifically, large, 180mm fans (they're still standard 3-pin). I tried it the other day, all the knob would control was the intensity of the blue light. Again, the knob only exhibited control to a small turning increment. I hooked up my two small Corsair Memory Airflow fans to the controller because being small fans, they're very noisy. The case has started beeping today occasionally when I rev up the fans to normal speed, specifically my top exhaust fan and I think my memory airflow fan. For anyone with experience with fan controllers, is it generally safe to rev up your fans quickly, or should it always be done slowly? This is the link to the fan controller, by the way: http://silverstonetek.com/products/p_contents.php?pno=fp33&area= Edited by ablahblah - 14 Feb 2010 at 9:39pm |

all fans can have their speed controlled.
you can't over-volt the fans with a fan controller, most all fans are rated at 12V and that is what the maximum of your fan controlled can output.
rev em up as fast as you want lol

any ideas why I can't change the speed of my LED 180mm fans though? the fan speed knob only seems to affect the luminosity of the LEDs and doesnt affect the speed. then again, it's rated at 18 dBA and 900 RPM, maybe it's not an audible difference?

if the fan has only one connector then yes, the fan turns slow enough that you will not hear a difference, but some LED fans have 2 connectors, one for the fan motor, and one for the LED
