I'm curious, is cooling something that should go with your build, if so how is that determined? How much is a unnecessary and how much is to little? Is there differences, pro's and con's, between liquid cooling or fans or whatever else? Although I'm new to gaming, I will be using my PC for a lot of VHS to DVD conversio.
Thanks ![]() GRB |

IMHO, cooling is something that you should defiantly consider when purchasing a high end pc. unless you're doing overclocking, you should be fine with air cooling, (use an A70 or Nauctua 12 for your cpu) its cheaper and more effective than water cooling until stage 4 water cooling. liquid cooling gives you better temps, it can be quieter (with low speed fans, although it can be louder), its cool looking, and it give you nerd points.

LC is a luxury and not a necessity.
when talking LC we are referring to stage 4 lc or higher, otherwise air coolers have better performance anyways. for cpu all you need is a a70 or the noctua to have good temps with oc. for gpus its stage 6 or higher. |

like dst said liquid cooling is a luxury aka not needed. Its even more of a luxery on the current sandy bridge units. you oc these chips to mid 4ghz(like my rig) and never see over mid 50's gaming coupled with a good air cooler. As far as video cards go most are made to take the heat and can be made to run a ton cooler adjusting the fan profile. Obviously it still has its place for extreme overclocking.
