I am buying a DS gaming rig and I am trying to decide between an I7 quad core or to go with a six core. Naturally I will over clock whatever I get, but will I notice any difference if I spend the money for the two extra cores? Same question for the RAM. Is there any noticeable difference between 6GB and 12GB? Thanks in advance for all advice |

there are very few and i mean very few programs that will use 6 cores. none of them really have much to do with gaming. on the RAM 6 gigs is fine, unless you plan on doing some seriously resource intensive video rendering and junk like that.
if you are using this mainly for gaming quad core and 6 gigs will be more than enough.

6 cores or 6 threads? 6 threads, there are several games/apps.
Yep, gaming, quad core with HT, and 6 GB RAM is a very nice setup.
No gain to be had with more RAM or more cores for gaming, extra core will be useful once reverse hyperthreading is implemented. but that is next gen chipsets, hopefully. lol
