Topic: Corsair Obsidian 550D: Slade Overview Posted: 27 Sep 2013 at 5:22pm |
Product overview of the Slade PC by Robert Wall at Digital Storm. QUIET OPERATION The Slade is a study in uncompromising performance because it effectively cools the latest hardware quietly so you can enjoy the game and not the noise from your system. It features three key components: front and side panels are fully lined with sound-damping material, un-used vents can be closed with sound-insulated covers, and front air intakes are angled away from the front of the case for noise reduction and sound isolation. SUPERIOR AIRFLOW The Slade provides incredible airflow thanks to its two front mounted 120mm fans and rear mounted 120mm fans. This air regime pulls in large amounts of cold air across your system's hardware providing an ideal setting for maximum performance. The top panel of the Slade provides additional cooling as it has room for an additional two 120mm or 140mm fans. It’s not just about keeping things quiet — there’s amazing cooling potential. FULLY EXPANDABLE The Slade's interior offers no compromises when it comes to expandability with its expansive room for the latest hardware and storage. There are 8 expansions slots along with 6 tool-free hard drive bays giving you plenty of options and freedom. Its front door is designed to be opened on either side or completely removed if necessary; this level of ingenuity exemplifies the Slade’s incredible design and functionality. MAGNETIC FILTERS The Slade comes equipped with magnetic dust filters that greatly reduce the amount of dust that can get into the chassis. Excessive dust inside a system can restrict airflow and cause components to overheat, increasing the chance of system instability. The magnetic dust filters inside the Slade are easily removable and are much simpler to clean than standard dust filters on other custom computers. Is this case still offered? If not please fix your Slade 2 marketing as it implies this is still the case that comes with it until you get into the configurator and it changes to the 400q.

I'm pretty sure I know what you mean but you didn't actually answer the question of whether the 550d was available or even which part was of the site was wrong and which case was actually the correct one that comes with a slade build. If this was said by Alex in a previous area, I wasn't here to read it or know where to look for it, sorry.
You could more then make it up to me by offering me that one 550d that was left on the back shelf from when you carried them but is now collecting dust... |

To see if they have a case, when you go to customize click on Change next to Chassis Model. But in short no they don't have the 550D listed anymore and the 400Q is the correct one listed. Whether they still have any left i don't know you would have to call and ask. Unless Alex replies again with an answer. |

The new and correct one is the Corsair 400Q as the Corsair 500D has been discontinued.

Your not asking me, but if you were I would say it seems like a step backwards. I really think you guys should be getting more professional and sleek looking cases. Or at least one. Let me try to explain what I mean.
I'm not asking you to start building boring office pc's or something now but to use an analogy I used in another post, to me all the cases you guys offer are like the honda civics that are parked outside the highschools. All mismatched colors and neons, strobes, spinning hubcaps and plastic body kits in your face and stuff bolted on to places they never belonged. What I'm looking for is the Cadillac fresh off the lot type case. A luxury car case that's black and chrome, solid and heavy, reliable, stealthy and classy. The kind of car the Honda civic owners buy once they grow up, get a real job and make real money. I want a rolex watch case and not an apple smart watch case. I suppose the 400q is technically in the "classy" category but its like the cheapest, oldest, smallest, least capable Cadillac out there with some general pretty low reviews from what I'm seeing. I would really like to know why it is you discontinued the case but I won't push. Its just me being curious and I'm sure you have more important things to respond to me but why? Was their problems with it? Did the techs not like working with it? Was it not selling well enough? Or did that style of case not jive with the look DS is going for? The slade had been on DS site for years, they usually tend to change cases every so often like the Apollo which use to be the Corsair 600t which is now the Corsair 760T. I believe Corsair discontinued that as well as the 550d which is why DS no longer offers either one. Edited by ArkansasWoman777 - 01 Aug 2016 at 4:17am |
