Hi JV..... Welcome to the forums.
You sure this is your first time? That is a nice build you put together and you did squeeze alot in for the $1388. But, and with us there is usually a 'but' Put that saved $45 to a better case, like the 500R for $77. The 500R is a better case, larger for the future, easier to work on and has better cooling. Or, if budget allows, go to the ODE level 1 for $1499. If you want a rig for 3-5 years you need the best video card you can afford. It's the video card that will need upgrade before anything else. The ODE 1 has the gtx 670. The gtx660Ti is a nice card but the 670 will give you more longevity. You might not need the boost now but in a year or two you might welcome it. Here's alink that compares the two. Not sure the monitor size and resolution you use but this covers a few. If $$$ is real tight then you could also check out the Marauder level 4 for $90 less than your build. It has the same cpu, gpu, etc but a smaller power supply and no overclocking. Basically, for less $$, the same gaming and a little better case. I do like the 800W in your build better but the 600W will handle it no problem. Hope this helps and good luck. Hi JV,
There is no gaming rig you can buy for $1500 that will be good for 5 years. bprat22 gave you some good advise. If it was me I would go with the ODE-1 for the better GPU, OC and cooler. Or change your GPU to the 670. Since your Mobo doesn't support SLI go with the 750 HX power supply. Frank Edited by FrankW - 29 Sep 2012 at 8:40am |
