Hey all,
I'm finally going to upgrade my monitor to either the DellU2410 or DellU3011. I know there is obviously a huge price difference, so I'm trying to figure out how much the 30'' would end up setting me back. DST said that I would need to add a 2nd graphics card to be able to enjoy a 30'' monitor. I currently have the Nvidia GeForce GTX 480, so if I add a 2nd of the same exact card, would that be enough gpu power to take full advantage of the 30'' monitor? Also, I only have the 750W Corsair power supply, so would I also need to upgrade my power supply? Plus, I only have the stage 2 Noctua NH-D14 cooler, so would I need to upgrade that too? I'm just trying to see what all I'd have to upgrade to go with the bigger monitor. Thanks for any help you guys can provide! |

for a 30" monitor the native resolution its highly recommended to have 2 video cards, however some people dont mind turning some settings down(im sure your not one of these people). As far as power goes you will definitly need a bigger power supply to supply 2 480's enough juice, 1000w PSU would do the trick. The CPU cooler is fine and doesn't need any changing.

Ya pretty much what rice said, if you want to max out games you gonna want another 480 or just turn down the settings, best bet right now is to go with 1050hx psu so that future gpu upgrades are taken care of as far as dual sli goes.
the cpu cooler is for the cpu and does not get effected in sli with a good case and good room temps helps everything a lot. so in short all you need is another 480 and either the 850hx psu or 1050hx psu, our recommendation is the 1050hx. |

No not really, adding gpu is very easy:
If you like to know how easy it is to add a gpu yourself look here and changing out psu is not that hard, you just need to pay attention where every is connected, then take the new psu and figure out where all its wires go one by one so that when you are ready to install you know where they all go, after that begin the actual change. |
