While attempting to rebuild the cooling loop on my Bolt X system, I inadvertently pulled out two wires running from behind the left side of the DS cpu water block. I even pulled off whatever connector was on the end of these wires.

I’m at a loss as to what these wires are or where they go. Do you think they are for the rgb ds logo on the cpu block?

Sorry for the poor photo. I’m relegated to my phone only while the bolt is down.

Ouch.

Look in your mobo manual to see if you find a 2-strand wire being used close to the cpu. The end connector wold help if it is still attached. Read the print on the mobo where it is or where it came from if you remember.

The pump is separate from the cpu block, correct? It could also be a temp sensor wire.

Thanks, I’ll try to look this up in the mono docs. Difficult on a smartphone since the pc is down.

I found what I think is the missing connector for this which fell out of the case, just a simple 3-wire job. Still not sure where it goes! The 2 mystery wires appear to be part of the DS cpu block.

Yes, my pump is separate from the cpu block.

Oh, so at least it does not power something critical like the pump. If they end on the cpu block, they are more than likely just the light wires or like I mentioned, a temp sensor. Neither of which you need to get the system running without issues. Usually 2-strand wires are for 2-pin fan connectors so...see if all fans spin when powered.

You should have gotten a little mobo manual with your system in the extras box that came with it. No need to look online.

BTW, why is pc down? I don't think that wire connects anything major.

No mobo manual, unfortunately.

I detected a tiny, slow leak in the loop. The Swiftech combo res/rad/pump (cracked housing) that DS used for the Bolt X is no longer available. So I decided to rebuild it with new loop gear. Old tubes are nasty due to Jack of maintenance. Still keeping it soft line tubing, though.

Decided to completely overhaul my custom loop after finding a crack in the factory original, now discontinued, reservoir.

All of the pump/reservoir combinations I checked out just wouldn’t fit the cramped confines of the Bolt X case. I finally settled on an EKWG Quantum Kinetic Flat 240 unit which was able to just barely fit horizontally in the bottom of the case directly in front of the GPU water block.

Probably not ideal but there is no way would it fit vertically and what the heck, coupled with new Corsair fans and radiator, it’s working nicely and keeping everything cool… in temps and looks!

Next I just have to drain the prep fluid, flush, and refill with UV Blue.

And while I eventually went with another option, kudos to Jonathan at DS tech support for his efforts in helping me find a solution. DS is the best! 👍
