I recently encountered a CPU fan boot error. The system is a 9 year old DS system. I-7 4930k chip OCed 4.2 GHz, Noctua DH-14cooler and Sabertooth X79 MB. I entered BIOS and observed that the CPU_Fan, CPU_OPT fan and CHA_Fans 2-4 are below 600RPMs but are spinning. CHA_Fan 1 is ~5000RPM and ASST_FAN is above 600RPM.

Is it more likely that this is a MB issue than having 5 failing fans at the same time?
Is there any troubleshooting steps to take to isolate problem?

I already ordered a new DS-PC, but the 4090 is on back order.

Thx for any suggestions.

Hi Alci...I had that excellent X79 Sabertooth motherboard, and there is a BIOS option to turn off Fan monitoring individually for each fan that could eliminate the slowing fan speed issue until you can change out those old fans for new ones. You should also be able to set fan speeds to max them and see if they can go any faster. That may not be the only issue, so trying this should help you to narrow down the problem.   Good you ordered a new DS rig as writing is on the wall for your old rig, but hope you get to ride this one until you are ready.
Remember that DS Support will help you if you contact them. Good luck!

At start up press F2 to into BIOS/UEFI>Monitor>CPU_fan>Ignore. I have a system with a Noctua and that lets it go to boot up Windows.

Good luck.

If it happens every time you start the pc your CMOS battery needs replacing. Make sure you touch the pc (metal) to ground it and you before you go in there.
