Hi I currently have a core 2 quad cpu at 2.4g. A few questions for gaming, games like bad company 2 would I see a big difference if I upgraded to a i7 920? I know I would need new ddr3 ram and a new motherboard, just wondering if it would be noticbly faster. I have a 5850 for a video card and i game on a 23 inch moniter at 1920 by 1080. Also what would be a good 1366 MB that wont break me and allows crossfire.

Well what resolution are you running to begin with? And what FPS do you normaly get?? Also what are you looking to spend.

WIll you see a difference? I will say it will be better since you may have bottlenecking issues as is but we'll see based on your answers.

the 920 will give you some improvment but the key is to oc the 920 to 3.6GHz atleast and see a huge difference.

for 1920 by 1080 to play at max settings and good aa you gonna want a 480 or 5870, or oc the heck out of a 5850 or 470.

go with 1600MHz mushkin ram.

but to be honest I think instead of all that you should upgrade the gpu first and see if that gives you what you want, and if you can oc that c2q to 3.2GHz.

one 480 or 5870 by itself should give you what you need, so why not just upgrade the cpu right now?

i think this is the main point
depending on whether you enable AA or not depends which card you need
if you like to push AA up then get the 480, if you leave it off get the 5870

Thanks for the advice. I am getting decent fps now but I get lag spikes in BFBC2 when playing on high. Is the 480 loud? Right now my 5850s fan is at 24% and is quiet I have just heard that the 480 runs hot which is ok I have a haf 922 with the optional side fan but if the gpu's fan is running at like 60% that would be a bit loud. I am really not sure what AA adds to a video game guess Im a noob. What brands are recommended? Evga, Asus, Gigabyte, Msi?

If I had your setup, I would just overclock what you have. Your CPU will do 3.6Ghz, so that will stop the lag in BC2. Different GPU will not fix you lags.

Justin.kerr is right, try overclocking the CPU first and see how she performs.
