Month-old PC, integrated SoundBlaster sound with my Rampage II Extreme motherboard, no addtional soundcard installed. PC came with Creative software pre-installed, Sound Blaster X-Fi MB, includes among other things the Console Launcher and Audio Console that I'm familiar with from other PCs with Creative audio cards. This is a trial version, recently expired after 30 days, now asking for an activation key.
I'm baffled. I can't find anything in the documentation that came with the PC referring to a key. From an Asus forum I'm getting the impression that the key would have been on the back of the Asus CD sleeve, which we don't get sent to us. Why "trial" software for audio control? Back in December when I got my rig with the R2E I called DS on this issue and to be honest they did not help. To be fair, is a new board and they may not have encountered the question before, or I did not explain it well enough. What I ended up doing is going to Creative's site and sent an request to their customer service explaining the issue. They sent me a license key within a day or so. Entered it and worked fine. |

Called and left a message with DS tech support. I'll advise how this is resolved, though I expect you're right DST4ME, it will be no big deal.
UPDATE: Sarah called back within an hour and gave me an activation key that resolved the issue. Very pleased. Edited by StLBluesFan - 14 Jan 2009 at 4:34pm |

@DL13, I'm very surprised, that is not like how DS has been, you should have asked to talk to somebody higher when you did not get anywhere.

When I called DS it was Christmas Eve - was not going to press due to the day and I still had lots of days left in the "trial". I e-mailed Creative also on the 24th and they sent the key on the 25th. Was planning to call DS back after Christmas - but Creative was surprisingly fast.
