So, primarily what this system will be used for is gaming (duh) but more specifically WoW, Counter-Strike, Left  4 Dead, DoD etc.

Now, i know resolution is normally one of the first questions asked so most of those games will be played on a 1920X1200 wide resolution.

My main concern with this new setup is longevity. id like to be using this system for a long time without having to worry about replacing video cards, or adding ram. I do plan on picking up SC2, and D3 when they are released, and i prefer not to run into any issues while playing them  So if anyone has any input as to an upgrade that would help me get an extra year out of my setup, do tell.

My questions are as follows,
-does anyone notice any shortcomings of this setup for future gaming?
-if you could change one thing about this and your current DS setup what would it be and why?

thanks in advance for your time.

A few things to consider:

CPU Cooling:  Cool-it Domino is only about as good as a highend Air cooler like the V8, except its louder.  Get the V8 or spring for the Frostbite LC.

PSU:  620watt for dual gtx 280 and an OC CPU is VERY weak, and pushing it.  Spring for the 1000watt PSU for much better versatility and future upgradability.

HDD:  May want to consider smaller drive than the 1 TB.  Takes forever to scan and search once it nears being full.  A few 500 or 640gb drives would be preferably, but that is only personal preference.

Go with 64bit OS, only $15 more then 32 bit.

Cant really fault you for going with gtx 280.  Still has awesome performance, and the price is VERY nice right now.  Good bang for the buck.  Even SLI 260 would be fairly wicked for even less, as would the newer 275 cards.

Would be nice to know your budget, so as to get you a great system without breaking the bank.

Changed your PSU for sure since  you want this to last awhile. 1k psu will give you upgrade room.

Video card as well since your playing at a higher resolution. The 295 gives ya two cards built together.

Hard drives I chose the Raptor for your games and os and a 500 gb drive for storage of music and games (i'm tired of waiting on , in my opinion, a good quality / affordable ssd.)

V8 fan for you to up your overclock.

I personally would use Liquid Cooling but I don't know your budget. Will add more to the cost.

I personally don't use onboard audio but folks here say its better quality then it was.  If you wanted one go with the Asus Xonar. Trying to remember where i read the CL boards were having some compatibility issues on some programs.  Our local SB guru suggested this board.  Will add more  to the cost.

Lastly you need to run Vista 64 to use all the memory in a system that has 4+ total gigs of memory(including video cards into the count of total memory).

Hope this helps.

Instead of the 295, get 2x275.  cheaper and actually slightly more powerful.
