Hey is it just me or do you really not need 60fps in Crysis to look good? I was playing on a 9800 GTX @ 1600 x 1200 resolution and was only getting avg. of 30fps or so and it looked great to me. No AA or AF of course but it was smooth.

well a still shot of crysis looks good its that buttery smooth framerate with a little motion blur that makes crysis look amazing.
i made a post about this a long ass time ago, but i found that you can get better fps with little negligible picture quality difference by lowering lots of your settings
the difference in the fps is really about how low you get in the worst case and how smooth everything stays when the action heats up

Right, I get that it's minimum FPS that matters the most but what i am getting at is that it seems smooth gameplay with Crysis doesn't require all that many FPS in the first place.
Now I am not far in the game at all. Does it require more FPS later in the game? |

30FPS is like watching a movie basically. 60FPS is going to give you silky smooth gameplay.

As long as it stays steady I'm usually okay with 30FPS, thats all most console games have ever played at anyway. But if it isn't consistent and frequently drops to lower frames then it gets aggravating real fast.
By the way, happy birthday AndydViking. |
