whether the 1GB or 2GB the difference in frame per second will be very little, and both won't give you 40 fps if you have it on hight settings/DX10/4x aa, you bets option is to use 2 x 275 for that res.

I know, I heard people say that the 275 is the bane of the 285, but I got a prebuilt model so I did not have much of a choice.

Well use it and see, if you don't use all the settings like DX10 and other stuff you maybe able to play it with little lag.

I have proved that statement wrong many times. Crysis doesnot scale very well with multi cards, but cross fire scales just as well as SLI

There are ATI based cards, and Nvidia based cards. Nvidia typically goes for top frames per second cards, ATI usually is slightly behind Nvidia in frames per second, with a lower cost, but usually has better image quality. There is always exceptions though.
Depending on what you are doing with your GPU also makes a difference, if it is strictly for gaming, home theater PC, Auto CAD, Ect.. each card can be stronger in one area than the other. Then you have the drivers, Some people like Nvidia's drivers, some like ATI's. lol
Heat, and noise are other considerations, also power efficiency. There is no one answer to your question.
Right now 2 4890's or 2 GTX 275's are a great choice for power, and price. I have had both, and the 275's cost a bit more, and perform overall a bit better, but the 4890's overclock a lot better, to the point that they will beat the 275's overall, and the 4890's have better image quality, to my eyes. The standard 4890's run hot, and make more noise than the 275's, but there are models like the TOXIC 4890 version than are quite and run cool.

you forgot to point out that the toxic version and such cost more also so you are paying more then 275.

I have respect for both ati and nvidia, however i lean more toward's nvidia.I like that nvidia has physx and cuda technology and in a few more months down the road they'll have another break through technology.

The price is what I paid, but skewed, lol There was a deiscount for purchasing aothner item with the GPU, so with the discount it was $199.00, guess it is how you look at it. lol
