Can I request a custom motherboard option rather than the 680i based motherboard from DSO? I was thinking for an X38 based mainboard from either Asus or Gigabyte.

Reza.

I am thinking of going with the Asus Maximus Formula or the Asus P5E. Both are X38 motherboards.

good luck with that.

There is a reason that we haven't moved over to the x38 boards yet...  We have been playing with the 780i boards at work and when they come out in a couple of weeks, that's what I am getting.

What does your 780i board consist of. From all the reports out there, it is just a 680i with an additional BR4 chip for PCI-E 2.0 support. What else does it have?

If the 780i is any good I might just hold off till it comes by instead of the 680i.

Did the good luck mean DSO won't order it or something else? Big%20smile

Looks like the 780i is going to be a good answer to the X38 boards.

It supports true triple sli.  That's the selling point for me.  Too bad the only cards it will work with though are the 8800GTX or 8800Ultra due to the double sli bridge support on the card.

I will never put in 3 cards, I dont think so. That's why x38 seems better to me. What's the maximum FSB on the 780i your playing with right now?  The x38 has a 1600/1333 Mhz FSB.
