I am researching for my teen son who wants to play BF4 and have a great experience. I would greatly appreciate thoughts between the L4 Vanquish versus the L1 Bolt. He wants to eventually run 3 monitors. The L4 is within budget however to upgrade to the Bolt L2+ gets a bit pricey for me...could I upgrade anything in particual on the L4V to get some more bang for the buck? Look forward to your thoughts.

Hi CharlieDog...  Welcome to the DS forums.
 
The Vanquish 4 is much better bang for the buck than the Bolt lvl1.  The V4, for about $130 more, gives you a better video card, the gtx 770 vs 760, which is about 20-25% better gaming.  Also the cpu in the V4 is a newer and across the board better performing cpu and DS does overclock the 4670k cpu for better gaming, also.  The V4 also had a SSD, solid state drive, that boots much faster and will give smoother gaming as scenes in-game, refresh.  You'd need a Bolt lvl2 to get about the same performance as V4.
 
Not sure the monitors resolutions you have and plan on, but gaming across 3 monitors can be challenging.  It can be done, of course, but in game graphic settings would need to be lowered to keep a decent frame rate.  If its 1280x800 tri-monitor then the gaming would be decent.  If its 3x 1920x1080 monitors then it gets tough for any single card.
 
The Vanquish are as-is, with no changes in the config.  They're pre-built and ready to ship.  You can always change parts later, the Vanquish being upgradeable.

The bolt is a great system however it is not as great bang for your buck as the Level 4. You are getting a slower overall system that is in a great small case.

If space is an issue than the Bolt is a great way to go.

If you want the best system you can get and space is not really an issue then I would get the Level 4.

L4 Vanquish is best bang for buck currently but neither will do particularly well in triple monitor gaming as you'll need a much better single card or multiple graphics cards to play at decent levels. Your graphics settings will most likely have be set to low/medium settings to get decent frame rates on triple displays. If the triple monitor is more for working on tasks rather than gaming, then the 770 in the L4 would be okay but may not work that great for gaming on those 3 displays.

Here's an article showing differing frame rates using different graphics cards. The goal is to have an average of 60 frames per second (fps) or higher to keep gameplay smooth. As you can see, they are running the graphic settings rather high and only getting about half the fps needed with a single GTX770 (20-35fps depending on game) so the settings would need to be turned down to reach the 60+fps needed. The L4 would be the best starting point for a multi-monitor PC build, but if you're looking to just buy a computer and not do any upgrades and still perform triple monitor gaming, you might want to consider the L4 Bolt. Although it's quite a bit more then either of those other systems, you'll spend as much or more in upgrades to the L4 Vanquish to match the performance (the 780ti graphics card is $700 by itself!) of the L4 Bolt. I realize price is of concern but buying once is cheaper than buying multiples of parts. Triple monitor gaming isn't cheap.

Also BF4 runs best on Win8.1 so if you purchase a Vanquish, plan on an upgrade as the OS will make a huge difference in graphical gameplay!
