I have Z-5500 speakers and decide to get a digital connection for the best sound. After hours of figuring out how to enable Digital/DTS I find out that creative removed the decode tab from all the mainstream drivers for vista! I'm pissed, I looked around and there are some tweaks like other driver to get the decode tab, I did one and had to system restore cause window wasn't booting up. Now I'm afraid to do anything. Anyone with creative find a solution that works?

I downloaded those drivers again and windows would not boot again so had to do another system restore. I'm just gonna wait until they have a definite fix for this problem. Still got 5.1 surround sound anyway.

personally i have never downloaded any driver updates from creative i didnt have problems with..and i dont have vista..still using xp.......im glad dso gives us more choices as far as sound goes ....creative wont be on my list

See the discussion on Configuration Discussion.  I think I'll go with the Razer Barracuda on my new system.  I going to try to connect to my receiver with the optical output and see if the receiver can do the decoding.  If it works like audio gear, this will happen if the card can produce bitstream output.
